Airbus 310 anyone?
Hello.
I am looking for opinions of people who have flown the 310. I would be interested to know of your opinion of the aircraft.
Thanks.

Big old money maker. Thick QRH, well used MEL manual. I have a very high opinion of the A310 as my paycheque is dependent upon them!!!
The guys I fly with tell me that if you can fly the A310, you can fly any airliner.

Just reading between the lines here a bit, are you really asking how conditions are at TSC?
As to the A310 I just got off it after 4 years and I have no complaints.
If you have questions about TSC feel free to ask, we will be hiring again, and for your info the pay is the same whether you come on the A330 or the A310.

Thanks 60n30w for responding.
You are right, I have an interview coming up next week. A friend was just hired a few weeks ago so I know what to expect as far as interview and sim. And I would be coming from one of Canada's regional carrier, so I have seen it all with interviews and sim rides.
I would be excited to be considered and finally settle in a carrier doing long hauls. But here are my concerns and I really thank you for helping understand the difference with TSC. Please sorry if I sound too unsecure in my questions. I am really exited to have been selected and looking forward to being hired hopefully. But it is going to be a big life change for me and my family and I just need to be reassured on a few things.
1) I am worried that if I get selected for the 310, that when TSC finally gets 737s, they start retiring 310s and that I would be still too junior and bumbed down to the Boeing and therefore bumped payscale too. Is there a protective clause in the contract to prevent this?
2) I come from years of flying mordern glass airplanes. I am worried that if the 310 is offered, since it's an older aircraft I would miss the technology?
3) At Canada's regional carrier, not to name it! I am used to a guaranteed 12 days off but usually get an average of 15 or 16 days off a month. How does TSC compares?
That's all for now and again thank you for answering.
Take care.

Re: Airbus 310 anyone?
I'm on the Feb 14th groundschool, couldnt be more excited.
In fact when they called me to tell me I was hired I was so excited I forgot to ask what plane I'd be flying!
Doesn't matter really, just thrilled about getting hired, but can somebody tell me the differences between 330 and 310, lifestyle-wise (schedules, pairings , that kind of stuff)
And do most YYZ crews live there or do some choose to commute ? If so how does that work ? Jump seat agreement with POE and WJA ?
So many questions ! I'm counting the days
Thank you !

I've flown the 300, 310 and 300-600. You can't go wrong. It's the last of the truly 'great' aeroplanes out there.
Whatever RJ you're flying or NG for that matter, the A310 is a pleasing mix of old and new. It's a second gen aircraft with a sprinkle of third gen thrown in. Easy to fly and a piece of cake to land. Nice AFCS and a variety of FMSs. ATS can be tempermental...rides through turbulence like an airport beater with no shocks, so hold on. That third world wing, not at all like a Boeing wing.
It sure would be nice to fly the 3-10 for whatever remains of my flying career, but alas... my age is my reality.
and...
don't worry about tomorrow. Who knows down the road what will be. We all spend too much time looking into a crystal ball and more often than not, it rarely shows us what will be, anyway.
...giddy up!

Re: Airbus 310 anyone?
Good luck on your interview!
You wont know the airplane until you start your groundschool. Base will more than likely be YYZ, maybe some people might get YVR, don't expect YUL. I cant comment on the differences in schedules between airplanes. Starting FO pay is now $50,000, maxes out around $115,000 by year 8 if I remember correctly. Seniority is determined based on flight time.
Some scheduling differences between TS and Jazz to consider....
Reserve- no back-to-back months of reserve. If you get reserve one month, you're guaranteed a block the next. Someone from crew sched mentionned they usually average about 4 lines of reserve per base/month. Could change with the addition of planes and new routes.
- if you're on RSV for 1 day, you can be assigned a multi-day pairing. You will be get to remove subsequent days of RSV later in the month though.
There's something called "white days off." This was kind of fuzzy to me during the presentation, but crew sched can assign you a pairing on a white day off, as long as they assign it to you while you're on duty. So, if youre flying today, but tomorrow is a "white day off" they can give you a pairing, and you have to accept it. If they call you on the white day off though, you can say no. After a pairing, you have to check your online "crewtrac" to see if you've been assigned anything.
I forget what min guarantee is, it's changing though with the new contract. I believe it used to be 85, but now it will be 80 (someone correct me if Im wrong).
Anyways, good luck!
