AC Aeronet forum has Micheal Downey saying that 2 767s' and an A340 are being returned to service. So I would guess that they already were at one time and mothballed.
The Forum also has them saying that they are looking at the Boeing 7E7 as a 767 replacement for 2010. The A350 is also in the running.

67s coming from KLM and Kenyan - Kenyan going down 777-200 path. Being a 67 jock meself, the replacement debate gets my undivided attentionEI-EIO wrote:PPRuNe rumours of more 767s for AC? Where from, and any word of more 340s?

Heard on my tingling grapes that the A345 is causing - or at least has been causing tech nightmares. Anyone have any news on this ?
Lastly on my first post here - understand there are cries for the 343 to be replaced on the Delhi run, as the performance/weights means load restrictions, and a good deal of the time an en-route stop...not making for happy campers with the PAX...
Welcome to avcanada!! Smellysox.
Last I heard was that we are getting a a340 -300 from air jamaica not the one we sent over a few years ago. It will be FIN 983.
The A340-500 was giving us problems at the beginning from hydralic problems to galley chillers being inop. Most problems have been sorted out now.

767 replacement decision "imminent"
Bobbie Milton on record today with Bloomberg that the 67 replacement decision is imminent, adding fuel to the fire the final word is coming way before June.
Gut feel is 787 is the chosen one - but I still can't get a handle on 340-600HGW or 777-300ER/777LR - it'll be down to finances/buy-backs/lines of credit/disposals - and it's known Bobbie prefers Boeing...
Over to the debate...

an AC bod describing the 345 issues on PPRuNe
Well, both have had their trials - I think the technical expression is Friday night specials....
Most probs now fixed, but the reliability is way below the norm. Pneumatics, hydraulics, FMS software issues, reversers, compressors, washrooms that didn't work, galleys that were u/s mid-way through a HKK haul...
Getting better mind.
I suppose Airbus might have employed technicians from Citroen on this one...

Hey Smelly, welcome to Avcanada.
I was in Santiago the other day. The station manager was telling me that the African deal fell through. We are now getting one from Varig which was originally an ex Canadi>n machine. Don't know where the others are coming from.
The -200 is now doing Lima Peru as we are running out of aircraft.

Two B767-300's are coming from Kenya and one A340-312 from Jamaica, the one from Varig is back on again but not firmed up yet.
The Varig machine is an ex-Canadian aircraft fin 636.
Two more 767"s were coming from EVA but the deal fell through, I believe not compatible and the leasing price a bit high. The market is drying up out there for good machines, I should actually say that the market dried up already.
