HF Radio Check

Post by New Guy »

Does anybody know a good way of getting a two way HF radio check in the Toronto area, to see if our HF works before we depart home base?

Thanks

Once airborne, call Houston on 17940 during daylight or 10075 at night.

That will test your transmitter as well as receiver.

Is 5680 an Emergency frequency or are you able to get radio checks on it?

Do southern FSS's such as London have 5680?

I thought it was only used in the north, like Churchill, Yellowknife, Whitehorse, etc.

London definitely does not have 5680 (Just VHF and UHF) Except for the North Bay (Arctic Radio) frequencies and Gander, Southern FSS should not have HF anymore.
