Are there any schools in Ontario that offer block time on a charge account? Odds are that they don't but I'm looking to see if anybody allows payments to be made to the school over a period of time. I want to fly enough hours in a period of time to get my PPL done quickly rather than go once a week for the next year. I realize it won't take me two weeks to get this done but I'd rather get it done as quickly as possible within a few months rather than take my time and have to re-learn sessions that I'd already learned in order to pass my PPL. Thanks for the help.

If I read you right, flight schools don't work like furniture stores. You won't find a well run one that will just let you "charge up" training. If there's any that still allow purchace of block time, you'll have to pay up front for it. Take a look through the rest of the threads on what the unanimous view is on putting money up front for flight training is. Save your money up and go hard at your training or go slow and pay as you go.

You could probably do yourself a real favour and do one of two things:

1) work hard, save up a whack of cash and squirrel it away (hard to do for most folks). Whatever you do, don't walk into your FTU with a wad of cash and flop it down on the counter and say "Just let me know when it's gone." 'cuz it just might disappear sooner than you think. Set up a separate account and use it for flight training only.

OR

2) get yourself a low interest line of credit. Use this for flight training only and make your payments as quickly as you can. This might be an easier pill to swallow.

You're right about doing your flight training as back-to-back as possible; the learning curve will remain as steep (and henceforth as cheaply) as possible. I know things are a little different now than when I used to instruct, however human nature hasn't really changed all that much. "Pay as you play" might seem the most cost-effective plan, but in the end it has proven to be more expensive for most folks.

Thanks guys. All of this makes a ton of sense. I wish there were options available without having to leave Timmins to get the flight part done. Freelance is only an option if I own the plane or a family member owns the plane. That's not an option right now. Too bad though because in the long run I know it would be less expensive.

"Pay as you play" might seem the most cost-effective plan, but in the end it has proven to be more expensive for most folks.

Unfortunately for most people this is the only way they can go about it since they lack the capacity or will to save up and then train. Even when people do have a wad to put towards the training, they often don't budget enough. Either way is still preferable and more cost effective than putting money on account.
