Insurance - how to find out who it's with

Post by nookie201 »

Is it possible to find out who a commercially registered aircraft in Canada is insured with,
without talking to owner ?

Essentially we supplied an operator with $35K equipment for an aicraft, and operator crashed the aircraft soon after and refused to pay for equipment (no...not cause of crash) . I'm guessing he did put insurance claim in for it...

-Thanks for hints.

Judging by the circumstances and the amount being sought, you most likely will not be able to recover your losses without legal action. Even if you know who the insurance company is you wont get any money from them directly, they will probably tell you to sue the party owing you money as the insurance company is responsible for covering the insuree not any suppliers or vendors.

Not exactly. You can go after the insurance that's covering the operator's commercial operation. Most likely you have to go after their commercial general liability insurance. If you really feel like it, get a lawyer to figure out who's covering their aircraft equipment and "inform" them that some of those equipment are legally yours. Claiming equipment that is borrowed or leased could be insurance fraud.
