Last I checked they have never had a "rampie" program.

Re: Bearskin Rampie
That is correct. They hire directly to the right seat if you meet the requirements. No ramp to right seat like other places.CYCG wrote:Last I checked they have never had a "rampie" program.

The Brussels sprout is a cultivar group of wild cabbage cultivated for its small, leafy green buds, which are typically 2.5–4 cm (0.98–1.6 in) in diameter and visually resemble miniature cabbages. The sprout is Brassica oleracea, in the "gemmifera" group of the family Brassicaceae.

Re: Bearskin Rampie
Thin crust has a point. At the end of the day, as long as you stay for 2 years, you get the money back and good credit. I know there are no bonds at 'ABC Air', but I also know how pissed you guys would be if people kept getting hired and taking off after getting some multi time. There aren't many, if any at the bear who can't stand working there.....Good Pay, good sched, Unionized, jumpseat perks, etc. There is a reason you don't see any bearskin pilot ads on avcanada. Back to the original question, unless you work the ramp with 1000hrs, you will only be a rampie.

I guess I should write something here.

+1THIN CRUST wrote:what’s your point Doc?
we have very low turnover, and only 28% of our pilots are currently bonded, the rest are paid out. low turnover only means everyone is generally happy.
the company is growing, adding great aircraft and destinations.
we have jumpseat agreements with every canadian airline, and a few american & 12 days off every month
pilots have and are being hired by AC, westjet, jazz, so why not stick around for 2yrs and get the type of experience airlines obviously want?
the 10k bond is paid by the company every month, money goes into your account and the bank takes it out, so to the bank you’re the one making the payments....this is excellent debt to have, it boosts your credit rating for free.
regardless of your opinion and mine, exchange income corp, which employs smarter business people than me; and you, thought it would be a good idea to pay 32.5 million for this company, that alone means more than anything i just wrote here.
so go on, because your so smart, talk about how bad bearskin is
I'd rather pay $10 G and work at the Bear and be treated well and be happy rather than be elsewhere, have no bond and be treated like garbage. I've been there, done that, and I chose to move to the Bear. Doc needs to take his sarcasm about bonds elsewhere. It's getting tiresome.
Re: Bearskin Rampie
Thank you all ,
i thought that one could get hired as a ramp attendant and get in the right seat. Is there any chance to employed by the Bear with 250 hours and IATRA ??

Re: Bearskin Rampie
If you get a CSA or ramp, or parts type job and fly on your days off to get 1000tt, you might have a chance....that's about it though...
I guess I should write something here.
Re: Bearskin Rampie
Back when I got hired at the Bear, I took 10g's out of my ING GIC and paid the bond up front.
I then started to recieve payments every month from Bearskin at prime plus 1% for two years.
I earned an extra 3.5% with my Bearskin bond than with ING.
I'd sign another one if they'd let me.

Re: Bearskin Rampie
What's my point? My point is.....you have to up front ten thousand dollars for a job. If that's Okay with you, that's your choice. It's not something I would do. And, it's not something I would counsel pilots to do. Does this make me wrong, because I don't believe in a practice you see in NO OTHER industry. A practice that Bearskin sure as Hell doesn't need to stoop to? It IS a good company, so why the draconian practice of making pilots buy their jobs?THIN CRUST wrote:what’s your point Doc?

This is a problem Bearskin would NOT have......even without a bond.....and YOU know it!Maynard wrote:but I also know how pissed you guys would be if people kept getting hired and taking off after getting some multi time.
Re: Bearskin Rampie
Hey, didn't that work well at Jetsgo? I guess no one here is old enough to remember that disaster, and learn from it.making pilots buy their jobs
$30k down the drain, boys.

Whilst I am not a pilot, I still think paying a bond has some credibility. It is expensive to train and PPC an employee then have them bail once they are type rated to better pastures. However I can imagine if you are flying for a low down scum sucking fly by night (Shady Air) operation then why stick out at a shit hole of an operation.
Oh and Doc, you really have to remove your signature pic. Every time you post you come in blurry. I have no idea why?????

Kowalski: Sir, we may be out of fuel.
Skipper: What makes you think that?
Kowalski: We've lost engine one, and engine two is no longer on fire.

Re: Bearskin Rampie
I have NO sympathy for any operator that posts advertisements for pilots, requiring a current PPC on type.
Live by the sword, die by the sword. Or, what's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.
You want a pilot that jumped on his last employer, that's what he's going to do to you. Duh.

A promissory note is one thing.
Money up front is another.
Money up front is another.
The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no
After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

Re: Bearskin Rampie
Bearskin is in NO WAY a "Shady Air", in fact, they could be one of the best places a pilot could "hang his hat" as far as non-Boeing operators go. My point is....there is NO need for any kind of bond here, much less 10K up front. Nobody's going to jump ship from the Bear for anything less than a really major job......and if that comes along, 10K ain't going to stop them.Darkwing Duck wrote:Whilst I am not a pilot, I still think paying a bond has some credibility. HEDLEY
jetsgo is nothing like bearskin airlines, the owner is very smart when it comes to controlling expenses, look on the YQT ramp, wasaya tows their a/c around in $60,000 fuckin denali pickups, we use old style 1960's pickups and our bag carts are old car rentals that were chopped up and made into bag carts, those kabota tractors wasaya uses are $20,000 each. a used peice of shit neon we use costs $1500, and believe it or not, our vehicles all do the SAME job as brand new ones, our trucks just dont have BOSE stereos to bump the gangster shit while pullin the metros to the hangar. all of our metros arent even painted yet, the ones with new paint dont make any more money then the ones with old paint.
what im getting at here is bearskin is WELL managed, the company doesent request 10k upfront because bearskin needs the money, its just a simple managment tactic to help control one of many costs of this crazy business. obviously jetsgo didnt have their shit together in some aspect of their business and they required money from the pilots, in this specific case i do not agree with bonds, when the operator specifically requires money upfront to help support the business.
when i was hired would i have rather not had a bond at all? SURE but i was hired with 1035 hrs TT, i needed to stay at least 2yrs anyways to build my overall flight time
you guys all talk such gay shit on here, you really have no idea what your talking about
