As long as you got quality time I'm sure they'll look at ya. There is no way of knowing where a internal reference will get ya. Especially as I am not in the hiring department.
Re: 2011 Ground Schools
For what it's worth, I've given referrals to two great guys with lots of good time and experience, and they haven't got a call. Who knows what they are looking for....

Re: 2011 Ground Schools
I Interviewed a week ago and I have 2700 hrs. Got an email the other day saying that they don't have any sim dates right now, but will call me when a date becomes available. Of all the people I personally know who interviewed, I have the lowest time at 2700 hrs. Some of the people I know who interviewed have 5000 TT+ and several thousand hours multi-turbine PIC. Just to give you an idea of what they're looking at.scopiton wrote:are they planning to interview less than 2000TT pilots without internal reference ?

what's your breakdown WW, just curiouswrongway wrote:I was called for the interview with 1900 hrs.
thx
Re: 2011 Ground Schools
Hi guys, if you don't mind me asking, what kind of hours is Jazz hiring with these days? Average TT for last few groundschools?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: 2011 Ground Schools
My experience:
3600h+TT, more than 2000h turbine, 1300h on the Dash 8.
I know of at least a friend who was interviewed with no turbine at all but some Navajo captain time.
Right now Jazz is losing a lot of guys to Transat (most of them from the YUL base) so I think the hiring may go on for a little while.
Good luck everyone, I just received my orientation package for the May 9th GS!

I also got the email stating that there were no sim dates available but when there is, they want me to come in. Anyone out there with more info? Have they started calling anyone yet? Any rumours of the hiring going on beyond July?

Re: 2011 Ground Schools
I got that email as well 2 days after my interview. I plan to call HR in a few weeks as a follow-up to see what's going on if I haven't heard from them.BE20 Driver wrote:I also got the email stating that there were no sim dates available but when there is, they want me to come in. As well, does anyone know if they do the sim evals on specific days, like doing YYZ interviews only on Thursdays? I want to book the time off next month for the sim so I don't have to go through the trouble of switching shifts at work.
Re: 2011 Ground Schools
Word from the training department is that the sims are all booked up now with all the new hire/capt upgrades so there is no available time in the sim to due the evaluations.
We have it in our contract that from 10pm-6am that we won't be doing any training unless we are running out of time, its my understanding that there is ALOT of midnight sim sessions now so.
It'll take time but the calls will go out.

Re: 2011 Ground Schools
I talked to a HR/Recruiter person the other day and it sounds like for those that are waiting for a sim eval date, that there will be no sim evals in June (at least according to her knowledge). Sounds like they're pretty busy with new hires and upgrades as it is. Here's hoping for a call for July!
Re: 2011 Ground Schools
For those wondering about sim evals..... I know most of you understand the logistics, but it really is simply a matter of having the space to do it:
Sim in YYZ and YVR, and it's used as follows:
1. Pilots due for various recurrent training sessions... some for ppc renewals, some for LOFT stuff. Mostly it's 2-3 days in the sim... anywhere from 6-12 groups going through... plus all the newhires from the fall are due their PPC's in June.
2. Current groundschools are using the sim, and it can be a nightmare to co-ordinate everything.....
3. Companies like Canadian North, Hawkair, etc use the sim, and THEIR guys have to be scheduled....
4. After all that, they must book times for initial evaluations, not to mention 3 instructors per... and we're hiring a whole lot of people right now, and that's a whole lot of evaluations...
So if you're waiting, please try and be patient! They will call when they can... it's just a nightmare to get everything scheduled

Re: 2011 Ground Schools
Yep it's a 100% Dash8 GS....
Almost everyone got what he wanted in terms of base, it worked out well.
Good bunch of guys.

The Cardigan is a running gag I think.
