Any CPL's with a float plane in Ontario?

Post by DaveC »

Hey guys. I've been looking at some of the float schools in my area (GTA) and am a bit unsure of which operator to go with. Any suggestions/recommendations

OR the other route..

Since I've been doing instruction with my free lance instructor lately (on a 150 I got a share in) I'm wondering if there is someone (well experienced) who would like to spend some time with me to do a float rating. I'd obviously compensate for your time and operating costs. I'm also a skilled web designer/IT guy so we could possibly barter and share services.

Feel free to PM me. I will consider anything in Ontario. If you can accommodate, even better :D

Call Jason at Huron Flight Centre in Sarnia (CYZR). HFC has a C172 on floats and Jason is a top notch instructor. 519-542-6599

The problem with what you are proposing is that the float rating requires solo time. Since you are obviously PIC when you are solo you will need to be on the aircraft insurance and insurance for float training is very expensive. Go with one of the established schools, I think you will find it very difficult to find an owner interested in what you want.
