Re: Air Canada Interviews
What companies have some of the recent new hires come from? Is it a good mix or a large number of CMA/GGN? Just a low-ish time guy trying to figure out his next move!
Negative Ghost Rider, the pattern is full
Re: Air Canada Interviews
I've heard a rumour that Jazz pilots have been blacklisted from the hiring process. I quick look at the new hire bios seems to confirm that. Anyone know the reasoning behind this? I seem to remember it was due to some sort of argument between ACPA and AC...or was it Jazz and AC?

Borek and First Air seem to show up consistently.

I know that this June groundschool of 10 had 3 GGN folk in it.What companies have some of the recent new hires come from? Is it a good mix or a large number of CMA/GGN? Just a low-ish time guy trying to figure out his next move!

Re: Air Canada Interviews
The rumour that AC doesn't hire Jazz guys is huge in general aviation, it's not true. I have two co-workers who have done interviews in the last month and I myself did a medical last week.
At least it'll be warm in hell...
Re: Air Canada Interviews
I didn't say they're not interviewing Jazz pilots...I said they're not hiring Jazz pilots. (I really do wish you good luck BlueSkies though...I'd hate to see someone at a disadvantage just because they went to Jazz)BlueSkies12 wrote:The rumour that AC doesn't hire Jazz guys is huge in general aviation, it's not true. The lack of Jazz pilots on the last few ground schools this year has been glaring.
There were two Jazz pilots hired in the first ground school of this hiring wave and I understand they were left over from the last pool of candidates. Of the last 6 ground schools (approximately 60 new hires) there were zero Jazz pilots. I would be shocked if the Air Canada resume pool of qualified applicants was not made up of at least 20% Jazz pilots so where are the Jazz new hires??? There's another ground school in July so I guess we'll see if there is another lack of Jazzers.
I'd hate to see Air Canada shunning Jazz for some bigger reason and denying individual Jazz pilots an opportunity to come to the airline that many have been working so hard to get to.
Re: Air Canada Interviews
A significant number of Jazz guys that are willing to move to AC either do not have the Large MPIC turbine or do not want to start at the bottom of a seniority list. The preference would be to go to WJ if they are going to make a move so they don't have to give up as much quality of life.
Re: Air Canada Interviews
I'm not saying that Air Canada is the be-all-end-all for every Jazz pilot or that every Jazz pilot has the qualifications that Air Canada is looking for. All I'm saying is that something has changed since the last hiring wave where approximately 1/3rd of new hires were ex-Jazz and now zero, nada, zilch!Tiny Tyke wrote:A significant number of Jazz guys that are willing to move to AC either do not have the Large MPIC turbine or do not want to start at the bottom of a seniority list. Re: Air Canada Interviews
I guess you can't argue with the numbers. I was just pointing out that Jazz guys have been getting interviews and I don't think AC would waste time interviewing someone who they weren't willing to hire. In my case, I don't think they'd pay to put someone through a medical who they weren't willing to hire. I'm based out west where style of life is more important to most people, a lot of guys I talk to don't want to work at AC... But I do so hopefully I hear something soon, haha.

Re: Air Canada Interviews
There is no requirement for Large MPIC turbine to be hired at AC. I have 0 Large MPIC tubine time yet here is am at AC. (I spent 8 yrs at Jazz) There have been people hired who have never even flown a large turbine.Tiny Tyke wrote:A significant number of Jazz guys that are willing to move to AC either do not have the Large MPIC turbine or do not want to start at the bottom of a seniority list. Re: Air Canada Interviews
^ ^ ^ ^ Fair enough. But most people that have been interviewed at AC are Captains at their current company. Others have internal help..???
Re: Air Canada Interviews
The first air guys a lot of them had pic above 125

HAHA, is this something new..
Re: Air Canada Interviews
Lots of Jazz guys who interviewed at AC over the past 6 months have the PIC time over 12,5. - Just to put that one to rest.

Re: Air Canada Interviews
Hearing rumors of some pretty good sized classes all the way to the new year.
Re: Air Canada Interviews
My guess is that the July 25 ground school is full as I know the calls went out about 2 weeks ago...

Re: Air Canada Interviews
One month since the "viewing". No letter nor phone call, has anyone had to call them to see if they passed the first round? Did I blow it that bad that they won't send a PFO?

Just relax. 30 days is a drop in the bucket. It took them 4 months to let me know.
