Porter Terms and Conditions

Post by V1VRV2 »

Hello
Can any Porter Pilots comment on their working conditions, also are they hiring Direct entry Captains. Do you guys have a pay scale and what is it? is there a jump seat agreement with other carriers.

Thanks for the help

No more direct entry captains. Enough first officers to upgrade internally now. Payscale for f/o is 43 starting. 48 2nd year and 56 third year. Above 60 afterwards. Jumpseat agreement with pretty much all canadian airlines except for air canada. Good company overall with the usual "new company" pains slowly being taken care of.

Can't/won't comment on the above but what I can say is I booked a trip on your airline yhz-ytz-yhz for both of us total was $560. plus change return. Now that is good and i am looking forward to my first trip on your airline and I suspect it will be a pleasent journey. Incidently, one of my youngins has flown on your airline several times and really likes what Porter has to offer sans the WJ corny humour which she finds annoying like those radio station yapping DJs. Like most places completely depends on when you get hired, and more importantly who gets hired behind you. My first month, I was on reserve, but the following month, I had 2 and 3 day pairings, exactly like I was looking for.

Lots of movement, with internal growth, plus pilots leaving for TS, AC, WS and elsewhere. If you meet the requirements (ATPL, turbine time, etc) it's a great time to apply.

Give them a chance to start the YHZ base first, then see about YOW. I highly doubt a YOW base will happen now. They will focus on eastern expansion first.

It is possible. Those that successfully commute generally keep a crash pad close to the airport and "visit their family" on their days off, if you catch my drift. In the beginning, there are a fair number of reserve shifts, so you'll have to be at the airport, ready to rock within 2 hours notice. There are over 20 flights a day to Montreal from Toronto, so it's fairly easy to go back and forth.

There is another round of interviews in the first week of September. Good luck to those who are going!

thanks for the details.

here is another question :

ive read on this forum that skyregional is paying 31200$ with a flight pay of 14$/h average of 80h/month (is flight pay tax free like perdiems???). that would be 44640$ per year according to my calculator...

and if porter is at 43000$ the first year,

skyregional pays better? or did i just forgot to add porter's perdiems? or maybe the payscale over time is much better at porter?

anyway, feel free to correct my numbers if im wrong! thanks!

Well one thing about Sky Regional is that the $14/h for an 80 hour month is NOT guaranteed!!! So if you do get that 80 hours in the month, then ya you are making a little more, per month and yes it is TAXABLE. Per Diems are for expenses! Flight pay is not an expense, so you gotta pay the feds for that one!
Porter also goes up every year. The first 3 years you will get a $4500 raise the first year, then a $8000 raise the next and afterwards its just a straight 2% increase each year there after.

First year FO (info is from a close friend) $41,616 Second is almost $50K. From what I understand that is base, so you have OT and per diems on top of that.

How many days off a month?
