Interesting...I've heard that they aren't considering the applicants that respond with "other." What college program/flight school did you go to? How many hours do you have? When did you interview? And, what machines were you flying?

Thanks

Has anyone been called for the October 3rd or any upcoming ground schools? I did my medical last week, and was wondering how long after that the call goes out nowadays?
Thank you.

From our union newsletter:
The next new hire class of pilots is scheduled to start this coming Monday. The plan, for now, is to continue hiring approximately twenty (20) pilots every month for the foreseeable future.

Just wondering if anyone has got an invite and turned it down? Are you burning chances of getting on later by not taking the interview due to bad timing? Thoughts?

Seems like the flood gates are opening for the Jazz drivers. Good to see after they got snubbed for so long. Good luck to those waiting. It's an exciting time to be joining.

Never happened. Urban myth. The ratio of Jazz applicants that were accepted compared to OTS was the same.

Really, you seem pretty sure about that - because the last two courses have been 20+% Jazz.
Sep 26 - 4 or 5/20, Aug 22 - 4/20, July 25 - 2/20 = 18% in past 3 months
Jun 13 - 0/10, Mar 28 - 0/6, Feb 28 - 0/8, Jan 31 - 0/8, Jan 11 - 1/16, Dec 10/10 - 1/8, Nov 24/10 - 2/10 = 6% in the 8 months previous
0% between Jan 31 and June (4 courses)

I'm no mathematician, just looking at the courses. I guess no one from Jazz applied to AC in the new year...
I'm not from Jazz but I think it's great. They deserve it.

I believe the confusion comes from looking at the total number of Jazz guys hired vs how many were hired off the street. Obviously there will be more OTS pilots hired simply because there are far more OTS pilots applying. The number that is important is the percentage of pilots hired. IE 1000 OTS guys apply, 200 hired = 20% If 100 Jazz guys apply you only need to hire 20 of them to achieve the same percentage. On paper it looks like the Jazz guys are getting screwed but in reality they are being hired at the same rate as the OTS guys.

In reality very few people have access to all those numbers so any claims either way are really just someones individual perception of the hiring.

Those recent numbers are correct and it's a great thing for Jazz guys and it was great timing for me. One thing AC did this year just previous to all the hiring was abolish a carry through agreement where Jazz guys could carry over 2 years of pay seniority, as well as travel passes. Put us on an equal playing ground at least.

Now I have to decide whether or not to say hi to the Jazz guys.

Well then if there were ZERO Jazz pilots hired between February and June that would imply that ZERO OTS pilots were hired as well (ceteris peribus), which was clearly not the case. All I'm stating is that there is a trend, coincidence or not.

Not intending to hijack the thread, just trying to give hope to the Jazz candidates who thought their chances were weak. I know many.
