YYZ - AKL on AirNZ is a pretty long one. 13hrs 15mins if I recall correctly.

Those flights to HKG and TPE must be huge?

Aukland is furthest mentioned so far. Can anyone top it?

YYZ-HKG 6787 nm

YYZ-AKL 7488 nm

Whoever said "it's a small world" probably wasn't sitting in economy.

Yvr to Sydney Australia was 15 and a half hours. Air Canada. Never again.

And the only flight from New Zealand to Canada direct that I know of is out of YVR.

Many apologies. It is YVR not YYZ.

If your planning to use an upgrade coupon I would advise you to get there early. I'm not sure how they award the nice seats to those using coupons but I do know there is usually a long line of people trying to do that very thing.

Thanks for the advice. I should be ok though, they don't use coupons any more. They use an eUpgrade system. With elite status you can apply for your upgrade four days in advance. I got the upgrade on an AC flight out of London on Monday.

Good news. I didn't realize they had gone completely electronic. I would imagine its much more convenient. Can you see if you got the upgrade right away or do you have to wait till you are boarding the AC?

I believe it's confirmed at whatever window you get to upgrade at based on your status. Super Elites get a couple extra days before Elites I think. I think this was the case when they used the certs as well, you just had to present the cert at the gate or lose the already confirmed upgrade. You still get people at the gate trying for an upgrade though, as those already confirmed are usually on flexible fare tickets and quite often change plans at the last minute.

So with elite you get to apply 4 days ahead. 7 for super elite. Most guys I know who have applied find out right at the time they apply. The last time I did this I got wait listed, and found out at the gate. I think this happens on flights that are particularly full.
