Commercial Helicopter Training

So, now in my early thirties, I've decided to make a career move into flying Heli's. I pretty much have the money saved to take the time off and attend a school of my choice. I'm in no hurry to find a school, but would like to start before fall of next year if at all possible.

Was wondering if I could get some reviews of schools that people have attended in the past and get the pros and cons of the schools.

I am also interested in anyone's experience with US schools

A short cut could be to earn an airplane Private Pilots License. Something like 15 hours of fixed wing flight time can be counted towards the private helicopter license. Personally I wouldn't spend the money on Commercial heli flight training. Employers want high time pilots to fly their complex and expensive Helos. Lots of high time pilots retired from the air force usually get those sweet heli jobs.

Hey If you know someone who is offering you a job once you're a Commercial heli pilot or this is what you absolutely want to do, Go for it!
Consider the Airplane private license. You might like the idea of flying something more stable a whole lot better.

Interesting comment, I never looked at it that way before.

I always felt the versatility and all around mobility factors in helicopters more than offset the stability difference between fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft.

In fact it is the opportunity to fly a helicopter again that has persuaded me to go back to flying again after over five years of retirement from aviation.

I can not think of even one fixed wing airplane that would entice me to get back into aviation.

Interesting comments personally if I am going a longer distance then I would not be happy in a Heli but if I'm doing sightseeing especially in an area where it is possible to get down lower and someone else was paying the bill & fuel LoL nothing better then flying a nice Heli simply loved the time I was lucky enough to spend flying them. As for the original question there are a few good schools depending on where you are located and if you would like more info feel free to message me in private and I will be happy to pass along some people that you can get some quotes from.

Also on a side note not sure if this is still done or even possible but if I was in your shoes trying to do a CPL(H) I would consider looking into a lease on a small heli or some kind of partnership.
