Re: Article on Greece
Ya gotta admire a country that pays its workers for 14 months a year.

All Greek public and private sector workers get 14 monthly salary payments a year, a structure aimed at keeping basic monthly salaries, and the pensions that are based on them, low.
Hundreds of state-appointed committees employ staff though it is not clear what they all do. Greece has a committee to manage Lake Kopais, which dried out in the 1930s.

Hahahahaha I wouldn't be surprised if they appointed someone to run Greek's Space Agency department too:)Siddley Hawker wrote:Greece has a committee to manage Lake Kopais, which dried out in the 1930s.
On the side note...13th, or bonus salaries are nothing uncommon amongst European countries, as are 4-6 week vacations....
14th salary however is frankly....pushing it!
By the way...Greek PM ordered a referendum on Wed. on this bail out package as previously agreed on 27.10. amongst key EU members. I'm wondering if Papandreou is just trying to wash his hands of it, and give it to people to decide on their fate or is there something else here that we don't see yet??
Also, if you are following this closely "...in a surprise development, Panos Beglitis, (Greek) Defence Minister, a close confidante of Mr Papandreou, summoned the chiefs of the army, navy and air-force and announced that they were being replaced by other senior officers..."
Fear of potential coup?? I'm confused to be frank...

Re: Article on Greece
I'm pretty surprised it's taking so long for them to go broke. They were set to run out of money quite a while ago. The loans are really dragging this out. That tax article is kind of crazy you have a Porche and live in Greece but you're poor. Sign me up for that ten years ago. Bummer it's going to come to an end.
