reciprocal jumpseat
Hey guys, just wondering if anyone can provide a contact name/number so we can set up reciprocal jumpseat passes with Westjet?
Thanks a lot!
Thanks a lot!
Re: reciprocal jumpseat
Hi Auger,
We do have a couple jumpseat guys that run the show. If you are in Canada, I believe we have all the agreements we want at this time.
I have pm'd the names to you.
Cheers,
Dave.

Re: reciprocal jumpseat
It is unfortunate the jumpseat coordinators don't understand that a JS agreement is suppose to be a professional courtsey amongst pilots. We (pilots) should be willing to help each other out whenever we can!
Re: reciprocal jumpseat
No disrespect intended, but do you think that every mom and pop operator in the country should have a reciprocal J/S agreement with the airlines. There's nothing reciprocal about a charter operator, in fact there are some on the current list(Cargo) who are next to impossible to access, but they are on us all the time.
Professional courtesy aside, the world changed September 11, and it isn't changing back. I don't believe, and I can say this with almost absolute certainty, you will get on an airliner with just your pilot licence as currency.
I'm curious though, if any U.S pilots know, can Joe pilot walk up to the counter, show their licence and get a seat?
Do companies in the U.S have agreements with all the charter outfits in the country?
Disclaimer: I don't know if Auger9 is from a mom and pop, but I'm assuming if WJ doesn't want or need any more in Canada, then it's likely a small company.

Reciprocal jumpseat
Just out of curiosity, does WJ offer jumpseats to foreign flightdeck crew who are in uniform and carry valid airline ID? I am planing on being in YYZ next month and might need a ride home to Alberta if I can find one. I tried AC last time without success.
Thanks.
Bear
Thanks.

Re: reciprocal jumpseat
Your airline would need to have a Jumpseat Agreement fb. I'd buy a ticket now rather than waiting last minute if I were you.
Re: reciprocal jumpseat
The US has a much better system than Canada. Walk up to the gate 1 hr prior, show ID and get on the flight. I have never had a hassle. I was actually in the JS of a Delta aircraft once, but got the boot when a seat opened up.
TC used to have an exemption to the security regulations which allowed any red pass holding pilot to sit in the JS of any Canadian airline. The only catch was each operator had to make a note in their COM on procedures. Sadly, not a single Canadian air operator took advantage of this exception and TC let the exception expire last year.

Re: reciprocal jumpseat
I wasn't refering to every Mom and Pop operation out there, but there are still some airlines/larger operators in Canada that don't have a JS agreement with WS that would like to, but were told that they didn't feel it favored them enough, and that it was a bit lopsided. Who cares....so what if its a bit lopsided...like I said it is suppose to be a courtsey. Our Company has JS agreements with Companies that I will never travel on, but its no skin off my back if they wanna travel on my plane...if I can give them a ride to where they wanna go then I don't care who they work for. Just my two cents.
Re: reciprocal jumpseat
Bede, I believe it's still available but the Airlines need to establish an employment database that is updated everyday, so they can verify employment. That's the hold up, there is a cost involved in start up and maintianing this system. Obviously that would prevent companies from setting it up, there's nothing in it for them(read executives)
It's not just putting a procedure in the com, if it were that, it would've been done already.
