Airport with shortest runway serviced by Westjet?

Post by Gear Jerker »

Hi all,

I'm just curious, what is the shortest runway you land on/have landed on with Westjet, in Canada or elsewhere? And what is the most challenging approach?

I've seen them use 19 in CYXX, which if memory serves is 5300'. I can't imagine they use many runways shorter than that.

I've seen them land on 31 in CYYJ (5001') and 28 in CYYG (5000').

That info will be in the CFS or google it.

SNA (Orange County) is the shortest 'major airport' runway in the US and probably one of the shortest 'normal' runways WestJet lands on. YXX and YYJ would need a reason like high winds, or a closure to not use a longer runway available.

I think SNA is 5700 feet long. Its not a big deal to land on, but taking off with a big load when it is hot tends to make a few pucker holes in the seat.
