It sounded like they said Mikey was riding in a L-49... Was it not an L-39???
Re: Ice Pilots - Season 3
I was wondering the same thing. Is this to sell the Buffalo Airwear or something?Human Factor wrote:This program is presented as a paid advertisement
This is a new addition to the show. For some reason, I can't see Joe paying the History Channel to broadcast Ice Pilots... what gives?

I dont know, after seeing Mikeys gigantic gut, double chin and ugly mug constantly behind that dirty old buffalo air hoodie, why would that make people want to buy one? Hes gotta be the ugliest fashion representative in the history of mankind.

If you ever actually met Mikey you would realize he is a genuinely good guy and a hard worker, I would say don't judge a book by it's cover. And his gear is actually pretty cool, some clever marketing for sure..
I really don't understand the "paid advertisement" thing, what is up with that?? Very confusing.

Mikey is actually a really nice guy, and even though he appears to
be a country bumpkin, he is very intelligent and quite smooth.
Just don't let him drive your Ferrari! He never got the hang of the paddle
shifting - it smelled like an asbestos factory on fire afterwards

Re: Ice Pilots - Season 3
It seems even the staff at Buffalo had NO IDEA what the "paid advertisement" statement was about??....
From facebook this morning..
Ice Pilots NWT
Paid Advertising! Us?? Never! Ice Pilots NWT will never sell out.
This message is brought to you by Barnes & Noble.
(Honestly, we have no idea what that was about.)

[quote="Beach 200"][quote="Human Factor"]This program is presented as a paid advertisement
Could it have something to do with talking about Adlair? Even in the episode before they showed WestJet taking off...just a thought

Re: Ice Pilots - Season 3
Then we could guess:
a) Complaints from the competition? Just count the number of times they mention, " Buffalo Airways " during an episode. And,it's all designed to make Buffalo Airways appear to be a super outfit. ( Which it's not.)
and/or
b) With McBryan's editing it swayed so far from Reality T.V., that it became all about the McBryans?

That shouldn't be a problem for most of us. Besides, any Ferrari worth its salt has a stick...Colonel Sanders wrote: Just don't let him drive your Ferrari! He never got the hang of the paddle

Mikey seems like a nice guy sure, but looking at the way the rampies bust their hump out there theres no way a guy with his physique worked his way up to GM by age 25. No way Joe would let a guy get that heavy on his dime if they didnt share some DNA.

Re: Ice Pilots - Season 3
The segment seemed like a throw-in to make up the minutes for a complete show. Certainly it added nothing to our knowledge about the Vintage people (I've heard Hedley might be one of them, but that could be false. He's very sneaky.) or their aircraft or operation. Very disappointing.Big Pistons Forever wrote:Not just any L 39, it is Hedleys L 39

Re: Ice Pilots - Season 3
Although it may be a gross disappointment to those looking for underlying conspiracy theories involving mind control by capitalist interests, the "Paid Announcement" slide was most likely a simple production error.....just pushing the wrong button. It is normally run before airing any of the "Infomercials" that run after hours, and are a solid source of broadcast revenues for both radio and TV.
Hopefully this look into the "human error" possibility which exists in control rooms of the Canadian broadcast industry hasn't offended anyone's sense of how things actually work.

Does Mikey remind anyone else of a real life Homer Simpson?

Does anyone know why episode 5 has yet to be seen online? I know last week was pre-empted by Rememberance Day programing....

Re: Ice Pilots - Season 3
The notice has appeared after every ad break in the last two episodes (those being the only ones I haven't watched online). If it's just the wrong button being pushed, it's being done with great frequency and regularity. The Old Fogducker wrote:Although it may be a gross disappointment to those looking for underlying conspiracy theories involving mind control by capitalist interests, the "Paid Announcement" slide was most likely a simple production error.....just pushing the wrong button. Re: Ice Pilots - Season 3
Huuumm ... could be I suppose, or its just a programming error. Lots of stations are run by computer automation systems in either a full auto mode, or in "live assist." The Traffic Dept does the scheduling, and often will make an error, which then becomes a template for future shows, but with different commercials inserted.
Typically after every ad break, there should be the mandatory CRTC required ... "this program contains gratuitous violence, swearing, and hot-looking women that may offend the squeamish" not the announcement that is played before and after the infomercials for things like The Super Bass-O-Matic 76. http://youtu.be/0BQFv83QJ2Y
In those cases, the company that is marketing the Bass-O-Matic 76 buys all of the time for that 30 minutes, and produces a show which hawks the wares of the advertiser. There is usually a revenue sharing method where the network is paid a flat fee plus a commission on each sale.

Interview with Mikey in this month's WINGS magazine. Funny read.
Will fix airplanes for food.
Re: Ice Pilots - Season 3
The "paid advertisment" announcement WAS a broadcast error on the telecast of "Ice Pilots NWT" on Wed. Nov. 16th. There was supposed to be a 'coarse language' disclaimer and it was corrected on the next repeat telecast.
