Swanberg done?

Post by ScudRunner »

Just heard that Swanberg is Kaput. Something about the Chief Pilot finally got canned, the accountable executive stepped in and took over that position for a day. The board then decided to fired him and since he was part of a consulting group brought in to turn Swanberg into the "Porter of the west" his firm including the PRM and QA packed up and walked away without those key personnel in place Swanberg shut their doors and laid all the staff off.

Something must be going down...the website has a message on it stating that they are ceasing operations.

I feel bad for the staff, but really this operation has been a joke for the last 10+ Years. The "Swanberg" that is shutting down is what, version number 5. This is a case study in what happens when the owner thinks he knows everything about running an air service and is not willing to listen to the aviation professionals he has hired.

People are out of work - and just before Christmas. I don't find much humour in that.
Best of luck to those affected.

Unrelated topic
Don't count on TC to give you a good CP or Ops MGR
TC's requirements and evaluations for CP and OPS MGR are a joke. I wrote the OPS MGR exam in 15 minutes (97%) and then sat around 20 minutes to not embarrass them. The interview was similar.

Just read the study guide a few times and remove your head from your a$$ and you will pass.

The requirements, training and skills for at least Ops Mgr 704+705 need to be raised, as do some of the training pilot requirements.

I have 2000 hrs and just passed a B100 Capt. PPC, I can not carry pax under 703 (need 15 hrs), but can do recurrent training

Where to start, sorry to everybody now pounding the pavement. Mr. Swanberg was really caught between a rock and a hard place. Declining revenues, and increasing costs made this a very hard recovery plan, at what time do you throw good money after bad.

EDITED

My only hope is that the Swanbergs' recover some money from the asset sales, and that somebody can step in to service the community.

It seems there is a lot of pent up anger on this topic, and it is also apparent that people are piling on allegations without proof, and that is damaging considering the exposure this company the individuals involved have had. I was willing to let this be discussed, but this is not a discussion. Topic closed for now, perhaps I'll edit and reopen it in a few days when people cool off a bit.
