Ah I remember paying $0.25 and crawling around and getting inside many of those birds as a kid. It was a hidden treasure in the middle of Moscow for me, but then it all went downhill. Get rid of an aviation museum and put up an ice rink, reminds you of anything?

Those IL-76's sure are dirty burners.

Reminds me of a story I heard related by somebody flying a turboprop, who was cleared to line-up behind a departing IL-76. The turboprop pilot responded "Roger, cleared to line-up behind old smokie" to which the Russian pilot responded in a deep voice "when you are big you can smoke too."

That's probably what the Avro Arrows would have looked like if they weren't scrapped.

Thanks for posting. Wonder if you can still get near all that history? Nothing like an airplane grave yard. The stories they could tell!
