Without that or your IATRA, you wouldnt be able to fly any of their equipment.tdp19 wrote:Anyone know if you need to have an atpl to fly for them...
Re: Atpl at Canadian north?
Does anyone know if they will look at guys who have the IATRA or the exams written but don't quite have the required time for the AA?
Re: Atpl at Canadian north?
What do you think they operate that doesn't require an ATPL? Do you actually understand how this industry/CARS/TC thing works?

Re: Atpl at Canadian north?
All that's required to fly right seat in a DHC-8 or 737 is a CPL with multi-IFR and IATRA; whether the company wants more is their prerogetive. Perhaps the OP's question should be rephrased as such: "Even though 5T's website shows an ATPL as a minimum to be hired, is there any flexibility in this policy? Will they make exceptions for this or their hour requirements if the applicant has other qualifications which make them more desirable?"xsbank wrote:What do you think they operate that doesn't require an ATPL? Xsbank. I think you dont understand how it works with that stupid response. Only need cpl and iatra to fly them. Examples would be jazz with college hires, first air, transwest, and weswind. I agree i didnt word the question well, didnt feel like typing a wordy question on my phone... Relax

If they ask for an ATPL in their ad, I would take it that they require one? I guess you don't agree. So, apply.tdp19 wrote:Xsbank. I think you dont understand how it works with that stupid response. Throw in a resume. I don't see it being a whole lot different from companies asking for 4000 hours for some job, but end up hiring somebody with less. It happens all the time.
I just wouldn't get my hopes up, chances are if they are asking for ATPL's then they obviously would prefer a candidate with it over one that doesn't.

Re: Atpl at Canadian north?
You are wasting your own time and whoever at the company is dealing with applications.
If I'd said applicants needed an ATPL, I would instruct whoever was screening the applications to discard/shred any resume without one. I wouldn't even look at them!

Re: Atpl at Canadian north?
I can't count the number of other threads on Avcanada where people have asked about flexibility in hiring requirements, and the consensus response has been "Most companies don't have hard-and-fast requirements, the minimum experience is just a guide to keep out the 200 hour wonders, so why not apply?" Why there's so much animosity in this thread, I don't know...
What if 5T received an application from one of the pilots hired by Jazz right out of college? If this individual had 2500 hours with 2300 hours and a current PPC on a Dash 8, but no ATPL just yet because the co-pilot time only counts as half, would 5T not be completely nuts to pass this person over? Having a rigid set of requirements is just asking to be forced to pass over excellent candidates who are missing one minor, not really necessary item from the list.

Well thats fine. For a two crew enviroment, that is all that is required of the F/O. I believe the ATPL is frozen until the applicant fulfills the TC requirements. Most new guys are usually short the 100hrs night and the 75 hrs instrument. Once those are met you have your AA's.whiteguy wrote:Funny, I know guys that have intervied and recieved a job offer at 5T with only ATPL exmas written!

Re: Atpl at Canadian north?
If you have an IATRA or your exams written apply. There are at least two people working there right now that do not have an ATPL, but thier exams written (I worked there recently). You won't upgrade without an ATPL.

I seem to remember a certain low time female with only her IARTA being employed there.
