Every medical, using the little beeping machine. Sometimes I start to lose myself in the song and forget to tell him I heard the tone.

My doctor used to, while putting on a latex glove, stretch it and let it snap! I would incidentally turn and look at him, fearing the tactical operation he was about to undertake... he would reply: " Don't worry, I was just checking your hearing!!"

The doctor did the quick test of a whisper accross the room and asked you to repeat. I assume he does it every time.
You have to take an audiogram the first time you take your medical (took mine today!) and then not again until you are 55. Also note that it is only for class 1.

Thanks that web link was great. I was always interested in this aswell because my first cat 1 the hearing test guy said i was 45% deaf in the high frequency range in my left ear. I got the medical but was worried I will have to test every year.

Not every doc does it! I have had some that do, and some that don't. I too was worried about my first medical, cause i was tone deaf in the high frequencies, in one ear. However, I can tell u this. I know someone who is completly deaf in one ear. He can't hear nada out of it. still flying. So, now, anybody know how that will affect a guy trying to get onto air canada, with not so great hearing/
