Agreed. With almost no aviation depicted, it was very watchable. There was no stupid USAF character, Adam Beach got punched, multiple times, the likeable indian rampie got lucky, and , umm some other stuff, I guess, but hey the scenery shots were nice. They should have "rampie fights" to see who gets to fly the Navajo next time.

I like how they 'make up' when there is a fight in the cockpit.
Re: Arctic Air CBC tv show
Z is any buddy watching this show? It's a real good show but there's a pilot named CHANTAL on it, couldn't believe it. The writers might be reading Avcanada or why else would they find a pilot named Chantal. Lots of people think it's a good show too. Last night it was about drug smuggling and it had cops and crime scene and there was some cockpit scenes again, which are always different so watch it if you can.
Re: Arctic Air CBC tv show
When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. I've been using Arctic Air as a fun training assignment. It works for many segments of aviation. Tell your student to watch the show and record the technical mistakes. Like the counter-rotating props on the DC-3. Or the Navajo throttles that are rigged backwards.
Then there is the disastrous emergency checklists that they regurgitate. How about a Cessna 150 that has 2 large males strapped in along with enough tools, equipment and parts to repair a Kingair fuel bladder on a remote airstrip and enough fuel to fly a few hours....that actually gets off the ground!
And how about when they land at this remote "flat spot" in the middle of nowhere that just happens to have a wind sock! And how about the replacement GPS that Mel hands his daughter as she climbs on her Beech twin. (I think it was a Baron) It looked like an iPad.
Of course my favourite is still the turbo-Beaver that sounds like a piston when it starts up.

No comments about the season finale?
I thought it was a pretty good shot at SAR when they mentioned that the Herc had to come all the way from Trenton to help those in the downed airplane.

That was the season finale? Too bad! I've enjoyed watching and would have watched a few more episodes. I am not a pilot, so all these technical thingies you guys noticed I really didn't. I enjoyed it for the nice sceneries, the characters and the setting in aviation. It's good to encourage Canadian productions too, we watch so much American stuff!!MrWings wrote:No comments about the season finale?

I have to confess I did end up watching the season finale and as far as "drama" goes, it really wasnt bad. They sure left us guessing what Mel`s "complication" was. Poor pilot guy that is in love with hot chick captain...looks like Bobby is gonna win that one lol. Ill tune in next season...but very disappointed with the lack of research CBC did. They said Mikey McBryan is an "advisor" to the show...maybe they should pick an actual pilot that knows the difference between a piston and a turbine sound lol... Overall, not a bad episode though. Ill tune in next season.

On the drama side of things, I was glad Krista and Bobby finally kissed!!flyinthebug wrote:I have to confess I did end up watching the season finale and as far as "drama" goes, it really wasnt bad. Am I missing something here?
Yea. Its a TV show.
I was impressed that the turbo Beaver sounded almost like a 'turbine' Beaver

Northern resonance, engaging dialogue, aviation accuracy, plot development, continuity, humour...
This show has none of this. Bad digital revision of YK, zero clue of aviation (terminology, environment, or anything else)... There was nothing engaging, realistic, or engaging about this sad show.
It isn't as resonant in the North as North of Sixty, as humorous as Ice Pilots or as in depth as Beachcombers. This is a show badly in need of an overhaul. As it is, it is a sad show that APTN, Discovery Network, and even the History Channel will never pick up.
Too bad for Adam Beach. He was great in Windtalkers, and other roles. Too bad that shallow research, poor production, and bad dialogue are what he has to work with.
But... I am being too kind to a truly bad show

If I put a sock on a stick it'd have the same acting ability as Adam Beach.
If you sew button eyes on it........way more range.

I don't like the bar. I bet there is no such bar in Yellowknife. How much resonance can be shot in Yellowknife? I think resonance could be improved by things like wildlife, caribou and ski dood or an airport, might have done it properly. I thought the characters and office are good and the plots are coming along.
I'll just mention this for a writer who reading this, if that's alright?
I don't mind a writer writing on my ideas but if they do, could they put my name in the credits or in the show? Thanks!

Then you would lose that bet Sheila. There is a bar like that in Yellowknife...only difference is its seedier in real life and the "dancing girls" are not exactly "top shelf" strippers lol.Sheila wrote:I don't like the bar. I bet there is no such bar in Yellowknife.
