Places to Visit - ON/NY/OH/MI
Hi All,
I'm based in Toronto and looking to gather a few fun places to fly for a day trip or overnight with 4 people including myself.
Ideally, I'd like to be within driving distance so if the wx is crap, driving is an option and theres no get-there-itis...
So far, I've got
1.) Niagara on the Lake
2.) Pelee Island
3.) Muskoka - cottage/fishing
4.) Hitsville USA!!!
Are there any lesser known places that are reasonably accessible by land or air around southwestern ontario but also, I have no problem going cross border to upstate NY,OH,MI...
Thanks,
DW

Why not try Killarney Mountain Lodge.
The flight up is awesome, over Tobermory, island hopping to Manitoulin, hang a right and your there. Or, go up past Perry Sound and follow the shoreline.
Beautiful little airport and the best fish and chips in Ontario.
Old world rustic lodge with nice people.
Nice place for an overnight with your friends.

in the Hudson valley, NY. See all sorts of WWI airplanes fly.
You can either fly into nearby Red Hook, or the grass strip
itself.
Another neat place to fly is Geneseo, NY for the airshow
in July. Another grass strip. Neat WWII airplanes:

I am also partial to the National Aviation Museum at
Rockcliffe, Ontario (CYRO - just north of Ottawa):
www.aviation.technomuses.ca
Vintage Wings at Gatineau (CYND - near CYRO):
www.vintagewings.ca
Also, a trip to Hamilton to visit the Canadian Warplane
Heritage Museum is also worthwhile: www.warplane.com

Give this a look -

And add some places to it if you know of any, particularly in Canada.

Anybody ever been to the aircraft graveyard around Tucson Arizona? I'm thinking about a pilgrimage down there.

Do it at the same time as Reno in September!

Pelee island is fun...
Also - if they are into historic cars (Past presidential limos, duesenbergs, old bentley's, etc. or exotic vehicles (Typical Ferrari/Lamborghini/Porsche etc. of all eras) make a pit stop in Chatham (CNZ3) and let me know when you are coming - we'll get you into the world famous RM Auctions. Great way to kill a few hours right there...

Cleveland OH and visit the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. You can land at Burke Lakefront (KBKL) and the Hall of Fame is a 5-minute walk down the road.
