Wow.

I have to say the controllers around NY are outstanding.

She had much more patience than I could ever hope to have.

Lmao. "My instruments are fine. YOURS are probably broken! Now leave me alone".
Lmfao!!! I must say, she was patient beyond belief but I think she felt she caught a big fish and was mostly enjoying his witty exchanges. In her place, I'd be amazed at how clueless he was and I'd keep baiting him a bit more, just to see how dumb he is. I'm assuming he was past his expiration date, just my gut telling me that.

Love the "good Lucks"
I figured it was some hot shot in his Mustang or Premier running with the big boys but I flight aware'd the reg. and it's a guy in his Cherokee.
I'm sure it was her instruments, after all, "lots of people tell me how reliable my instruments are".

I know how politically incorrect this sounds, but I love female controllers. I also have an evil love of chaos (especially when it befalls other people). That recording was a lot of fun to listen to. A male controller would have handled that no less proficiently no doubt, but way less satisfying to listen to. Maybe I just like being bossed around.

I'll never understand how these controllers keep their situational awareness. It must take years of practice.

Wha happen to my posts? They seem to just randomly disappear these days... Mods?

BTW- Good on her for remaining so calm with that clown. I too enjoy all of my dealings with the female controllers!

If his track on Flight Aware was correct, after the JFK VOR he was never even close to V16.

Scary that people like that are even allowed to hold an instrument rating.

Flight Aware's instruments are wrong, now leave him alone!

I wonder if the FAA does follow up on something like that. The CADORS entry would be "enforcement", with follow up as "Yes"

My suspicion is that this audio was referred to the FAA and that he no-longer holds a rating, and possibly not even a licence

In the past, what the FAA could do in this situation
is issue the infamous "form 409" on this fellow, which
would require him to re-take the flight tests for his
instrument rating, private pilot certificate, etc.

I'm pretty certain we don't have an equivalent procedure
in Canada, otherwise I would have had to re-do my
flight tests many times, over the decades. The FAA
reserves this for people who have spectacularly screwed
the pooch.

Actually CS, TC does have the right when competency is in question. It's been done. I guess no one ever questioned your ability to fly.

The infamous "709" can range from this type of incident to gross negligence, or something out of your control; such as your examiner had issues with the FAA and issued a certificate when they shouldn't have.

Either way, this guy is a hazard. To me specifically too because I fly out of EWR all the time. I have enough issues trying to fly the SID as it is..

Wow. Guys like that give ga IFR pilots a bad name. No wonder the jet drivers dont want us up there. I file IFR a lot in my light single and learned to keep my com traffic quick and professional. I hear so much butchering of basic com, it'd like shut up already! My feeling is, if you can't learn to communicate accurately at a military speed you don't belong in busy controlled airspace. Nothing worse than some brick head tying up the frequency forever while he decides what to say. I actually have to slow it down in the US as some of them are not used to a 5 letter call sign.

Lol I like the part where he says he gets compliments on his instrument' s accuracy. I've heard that so many times when doing a calibration on a private aircraft that people and especially atc have remarked that his instruments are so good. I mentioned that before on a previous thread about cheapskate owners, like thats a normal conversation to have. "Oh wow kudos on the hsi, I can tell from here that the heading indication is bang on, keep up the good work"

While I appreciate the fact that you are trying to be concise and professional, speaking too quickly can actually have the opposite effect. It can lead to misunderstandings and having to repeat clearances which of course ties up radio time. There is no need to speak at "military speed". Good rule of thumb is to speak at your normal speaking cadence and you'll be just fine.

+1.
It's good to try and not tie up the air, but its pretty frustrating when you have someone come on the radio and talk like lightning and before you know it they're done and you have no idea what they just said or where they are. It is important to not be like this guy in the video, but the radio is used for communication. It is there to talk on. You wouldn't speak that fast on the phone, and you are trying to get information across, you use the most efficient speed, one that both can understand (not those phone calls with the wife). Why not use the same on the radio, but to the point?

Listen to the commentary. I speak the same speed as the controllers and airline guys. I have not been asked to repeat information other than a canadian call sign in the us. Chill out and for those that do it, stop the life stories, don't cut off others and listen first. The YouTube guy is all that common and annoys me.
