Didn't kill them. I thought these workers were required to be ready for this to happen. A silly mistake, but hardly cause for a "mental anguish" lawsuit or PTSD claim.

Those guys trust Meteorologists way more than I do. What if it was a storm that left them stranded? Or the helicopter went down and had an ELT failure.

Oops! I suspect that once the initial shock and indignation has worn off, then the episode will be worth several laughs, and will be re-told several times..

I was with TWA as this was happening. While the pilot ultimately bears the responsibility (Poor guy, it was his first flight after line indoc!) They neglected to mention that the Saskpower crew wasn't answering their radio, and when we sent a second heli out on hour later, the crew was hunkered somewhere in the bush over a half km away from the open spot they were to be retrieved. 45 minutes of recon before dark yielded nothing. How the crew didn't realize the heli going overhead 10 times was for them, I'm not sure, but this was definitely an example of how most errors, when there is already a set procedure in place, will only result from a cascade of systemic failures- not just one mistake. There were several factors, on both sides, that lead to the error. Luckily the weather was good, and nobody was worse for wear from it.
