Back home every night?
Hi guys,
I'm looking for Operators that enable a pilot to be back home every night. I could do the occasional 2 or three day pairing but not on a regular basis.
Any help, advice and/or direction is greatly appreciated!!
Thx!

The coast on floats. I'm home every night! But other than that.. good luck, thats pretty tough in this industry if you want to make a reasonable wage
Re: Back home every night?
A few charter companies in Calgary, Sunwest, North Cariboo, some flying at Regional1.

Respectfully, that's not at all helpful, and just not true. While not the majority of jobs out there, home-almost-every-night jobs do exist if you look around a bit, just as the o.p. is doing.Gannet167 wrote:Respectfully, you're in the wrong industry.
Carson Air Medevac or Cargo in YVR, YLW
NT Air on the B350 in YXS
Suncor in YYC (depending which airplane you're on)
Morningstar Express on the C208 in YVR
Sunwest on the C208 in YVR
Almost any FedEx, UPS, Or DHL feeder ops (ie metro, caravan, B1900, etc)
Float flying on the west coast
Whitehorse operators: Alkan (Medevac) & Air North
Re: Back home every night?
Pretty sure the Westwind guys in YXE have no overnights.

...and these are just Yellowknife based! There's a whole Country out there with jobs like this! Remember that although there are some excellent jobs with the Majors, there are still some great opportunities elsewhere! Good luck.
-First Air...Other than Sim and the odd 'fill-in' in YFB; most YZF crews are home every night (ATR/Boeing).Respectfully, you're in the wrong industry.

You can drop Suncor from that list. All crews are now doing overnights in Edmonton as the new 900 is based there.

They've hired some crews to be based in YEG so overnights will probably be minimal.ajet32 wrote:You can drop Suncor from that list. All crews are now doing overnights in Edmonton as the new 900 is based there.

Northwestern Air Lease. I've been here almost a year and spent 3 nights away from home. One due to weather, One for my medical and the other was a charter booked with plenty of notice.

WestJet,
Bid 1 days - hope to get a few.
Ditch the pairings you don't want on-line.
Pick up 1 days on-line trading.
Works most months except July, August and Christmas.
When I get a lousy schedule - I just ditch what I don't want and rebuild it all on my iPad while drinking coffee at Starbucks.

The best i've seen is Hydro-Quebec
Probably the best schedule in North America
8 to 5 Monday to Friday
And you're paid more to fly a Q400 than a 737

Concur with jjj. WestJet F/O, if you live in YYC, and you bid one-days. You'll be home every night, month after month, year after year.
Re: Back home every night?
I would say almost any Medevac gig, you might get called during the nights, but you'll be home by the end of your 14 hrs. 99% of the time.
Almost all oil and gas crew change type job out of YYC and YEG.
In the 703/704 world, The further a plane goes, the more likely you'll do overnights.
