Looking for work ?

Post by PHD »

If you are a Flight instructor and looking for work, and serious about working, send me a quick message with the class of instructor and Total times......

Pay is ok but just like any other instructing jobs you work hard and get paid the shits but we all know that you do it just for the time in your log book. As long as you are safe and use some commen sence then go after what you want and be ohnest about it.

Thanks

Why don't you start paying your instructors well and maybe they'll be in it for more than just the hours. They might actually try to produce good pilots. Everyone in this industry needs to give their head a shake.

Weren't you looking for a job last month? That's a pretty quick shot up the totem pole to now offering jobs to people on an internet forum.

im only in this for the hours  ? why hadnt someone told me this years ago. Better yet, i think that TC should start putting that in thier instructor training sylabus. And we should also tell that to our students, yes i will get you you piltos licence, but, i will do a half ass job cause im only in this for the hours. Wow. Any instructor that is in this gig for only the hours needs to get out and make way for someone who actually gives a shit about students and producing good competant pilots.

I agree... I had one of those... not good to always hear `lets go on a dual flight... you need to work on your forced approaches`... it REALLY doesnt build confidence for them, which you need... (and by the way, i could and still can shoot them very accuratley) I think these kind of instructors should loose their positions and go work a ramp... but of course, the world is a very twisted place, so it will never happen...

Well, just like I thought...things havent changed as far as pilots, and their " 13 year old school girl" mentality

I am not here to tell ya what instructors should be and shouldnt be like...I am stating facts based on what i ve seen in the past 7 years of my instructing career.

I am not in the postition to change what instructors get paid..If it was up to me I would pay them what they are worth which is a heck of alot more than the average instructor makes.

Yes I was looking for work not too long ago, and yes I am the CFI at a private owned school.

I am also old enough to realize that not becuase you are in the flight training as an instructor for the "hours" doesnt mean that you are a bad or less than skilled instructor.

Get your facts straight and take the damm time to read what i wrote before you start throwing darts at people.

All i am saying is that I wish Flight training would treat instructors a little better but the fact is i can wish all i want but there is a difference between what we want and what we get.

You think I would want the responsibilty of having a non competent instructor under my supervision as a CFI????? anyhow I never hold a grudge so if you are intrested send me a PM and i will get you the info.....I am looking for 3 instructors 2 full times and 1 part time.

cheers

Ah the level of this forum........

If what I read is correct, there are no jobs to be had for instructors out there.

Mr. PHD (if he/she is for real) rather unelegantly is offering 3 positions for the members of this forum to have first crack at, and he/she gets shot down.

Nice...

Of course, if he is just trolling then he should be banned from AvCanada in the future.

I wish owners and CFIs would start treating instructors better. Case in point this original post.

you know what

Post by PHD »

for all of you out there that bitch and complain about how bad shit is in the industry.............

If you start complaining and you are at the start of your career, in flight training wow. i hate to see you beyond that....

You need to grow some thick skin and take facts and deal with them with what you got instead of bitching about how bad everyone s got it and who's fault it is....

You know what i worked my left nut off for 7 years straight and still i work long hours and I get paid the shits after 7 years of instructing and a class one...So if you think that the industry owes you anything.......think again...I am realy sick and tired of people just wineing about the little shit and forgeting the big shit...

Words of wisdom......If you want to get some where in this industry Either you get busy doing it or you get busy loosing it ........ instead of wasting time critising everyone elses comments

More words of wisdom:

Winners never quit. And quitters never win.

But if you never win, and you never quit, you're an idiot.

And I didn't even have to get a Phd to figure that out!

btw, I googled "PHD" and apparently it means "Pimp and 'Ho's Degree". What school can I go to, to get mine? It sounds like a lot of fun, even if it sounds a bit risky on the personal hygiene and blunt trauma side of things.

Pay is SHIT ehh... Well it should NOT be like that. Instructors don't teach how to ride a bike or a donkey... They teach how to fly an aircraft and teach the theory and everything envolves flying. They prepare students for flight test and written test, which we all know they are not that easy. So in another words "instructors" are teachers like the ones in schools (to be more clear) and they should get paid well enogh and they should all treated with respect. School owners (business people) should know that if there were few instructors , they'll have less business so less $ in their pocket. I think it's very sad that aviation society lets these thing to happen over and over again.. I hope one day "instructors" get the respecet that they deserve. BTW not all the "instructors" are there to log hours. Alot of them love what they do but they have bills to pay like you do. Also i want to remind everyone that I'm not an instructor so i'm not defending myself.

I think the problem is Operators forget that instructors are people too. Instead they see students as +$ and instructors as -$. For the investment, the headache and work an instructor has to go through, not worth it for $15,000 a year. When a kindergarden teacher makes double that.

Haz;

Totally off topic, but you're going to hell in a handbasket for that Avatar.
Keep em coming!

Until flight schools can be consistently profitable (and turn a decent buck for the operator) we're not going to see a change in instructor wages IMHO. If the schools were pricing to make more money on the airplane then hopefully some of that could get passed to the instructor. Again, just my humble opinion.

Flight schools pay crap wages to instructors because they can.

Fuel prices go up, no problem. Insurance goes up, that gets paid too. But because the flight schools control the price of the flight instructor, they aren't about to let it go up.

That's where the gravy is. Charge $35/hr for a class 4 and pay him $10/hr which is a sweet $25/hr profit for the school.

So, go freelance. Charge more than $35/hr and keep it all. After all, if people are willing to pay $35/hr for a class 4 that got his rating last week, it stands to reason they'll pay more for an experienced instructor, especially if you have niche skills like instrument, tailwheel, etc.

Flight schools are paying the same for instructors as they did 20 years ago, and that's not about to change.
