Get it really clean - no sand or grit or grease on it - then
use some "scratch remover" from Canadian Tire, which is
intended for automotive paint. It does a superb job on
plexiglas and lexan. This works well for swirl marks and
scratches that aren't too deep.

You use it just like wax - put it on a clean rag, and rub it
into a small area (less than 1 sq ft). After it dries, wipe it
off with another, large, clean rag. Repeat as necessary.

There used to be a kit available for this. It came with a selection of different grip paper and liquid. Try your local aircraft supply store and see if its still around.

Very Fine grit 1200 wet and dry paper followed by Novus #3 Scratch remover followed by Novus #2 polish. Works very well without a whole lot of effort.

With the wer and dry use plenty of water with a few drops of liquid soap.

Micro Mesh.

You're essentially wet sanding the plastic with 10 000 grit sandpaper. Make sure it's wet.
Work your way to the 15 000 grit, wet sanding all the way.
As the final step, use the polish provided with the kit to finish.

There is a detailing shop in Abbotsford that also polishes scratches out of aircraft windows.
A number of companies have used this outfit, and they are familiar with working around aircraft.

Super Shine Detailing
30711 Simpson Rd
Abbotsford

604 857-4708

I have used them on a number of occasions myself, but couldn't remember the company name when I posted earlier. Ran into the guy last week.

Oh yeah, they do car and plane detailing as well.

Whatever is approved in the Aircraft SRM, micro mesh is approved for some A/C I believe.

A product called "Micro Mesh" works very well, I have a kit I bought about 25 years ago, and I still use it from time to time. It is basically a series of progressively more fine wet sandpaper, which is very reuseable. Follow the instructions, and you'll be very pleased with the outcome.

However, for most Cessna windshields, they are not so expensive as to not be easily replaced. there comes a point where it's just cheaper to replace.

Micro mesh works great! I have used it a number of times to remove scratches and swirls in windscreens. For mainly flat surfaces lee valley tools has a kit you can attach to a random orbit sander. It removes the elbow grease requirements just be very careful to let the tool do the work. Don't put any pressure on it to speed the process up. Let the weight of the tool do it all.
