I get a good chuckle reading these posts, not just here but the likes of prune and other forums and the complaints are generally the same. Aviation in Canada is rather 3rd world. And accepting that is most of the battle. You have to get several thousands of hrs to even think of getting a turbine job after flying in the bush somewhere on a clapped out Navajo. That being said, corporate is no different than the airlines ( after doing both). You still have to deal with an upper management, difficult schedules, and unreasonable pay. Going overseas for an expat job may give the illusion of making a pile of cash, but that depends on whether you are married or single. Lifestyle counts for a lot once you have been in the biz for over 15 yrs. equipment sometimes does not really matter. If you have a job in Canada, be lucky you have one, and you get to life here. Many guys are still stuck as an expat with no hopes of returning, having to put up with the B.S at Emirates or Gulf Air or Qatar. Careful what you wish for.
The F/O gripes are also the same. Just deal with it.... All the guys sitting in the left seat now have already had the same complaints and had to put in their time. Ya, life ain't fair, you are a dime a dozen and that's how companies see you. Best thing to keep in mind... It's a means to the end. You will go through your good times and your layoffs, this is your choices.
Heading to the likes of WJ or AC??? Well, if you want to drink the cool aid and cleans toilets and fold seatbelts...suck it up. Corporate isn't any different other than the class of clientele. At AC, you still may fly those 5 legs a day or be flying with a crusty coffin dodger crew and both start out with crap pay.
So....this is what it is

tons-o-fun wrote:Pay still sucks, still really disorganized, no movement, shut up and do your job attitude ( with legit concerns), dfo is an idiot, everyone in the office including dispatchers have a title ( very top heavy org) Honestly all Chartright cares about is image to their customers and doesn't give a shit about its own employees morale. There's always more pilots that want to fly those shiny new jets kind of attitude.
