There are tons of old birds at every Russian airport I have been to... Most of the Eastern Block Euro states as well. I was in UHPP Petropovlask (I can never spell that one) last week and saw all kinds of old cold war stuff. It was quite a site!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMARG

You'd love the farm of a friend of mine who for many
years has been shipping MiGs and Sukhois and L29/L39's
in containers to his place, where he reassembles them
and flies them off a grass strip you would hesitate to land
a 172 on. I guess afterburners help reduce the takeoff
roll, though I would worry about a grass fire.

Unbelievable collection of parts.

Anybody knows who owns the old jets laying around Markham airport north of Toronto. Or any other location in Canada having warbirds sitting around and looking for a new owner.

Ex soviet country might be too complicated to import, but any info on the subject would be apreciated.

There are 5 L29's and 4 L39's on the Canadian
registry, so it can be done.

They are all owned by a bogus museum called " The Air Land and Sea Museum " , though at times I have heard it named other things.
The owner of the Airport is the Thompsom Corp but the airframes are a part of this fake Museum run by the Airport Manager.
My advice having done business with them in the past KEEP CLEAR OF THEM !!
