West Wind Aviation has a cargo operation for courier companies; this specific job is for courier (cargo) operations based in Regina.

Hope that helps.

With regards to the current ad for the courier captain position, what is the schedule like? Is it Monday to Friday or something like 4 on/4 off? Is there an expectation that pilots are available for short-notice flights or other duties requiring them to be close to the airport? I'm curious to know if it's possible to live in Regina during the work week and drive back to another city on the Prairies for one's time off.

Monday to Friday, weekends and stat holidays off. Regina has 2 bag run routes. Regina-Swift Current-Kindersley and Regina-Yorkton. Early morning departure home around supper time. A lot of pilots pick up a part time job in the city there are holding in to combat boredom and make a couple extra bucks. On very rare occasions you may be asked to fly during the day. Usually an IROPS situation where the company needs mtce or parts ferried around the province. It's a good first twin command job if you don't want to live in a small Northern community.

If it hasn't changed in 10 years, it's monday to friday, weekends and stat holidays off. You fly into one or more small rural towns painfully early in the morning, then hold somewhere all day. After the banks close for the day you repeat on your way home.

Pay is below poverty but multi pic is worth its weight in gold. Plus you sit somewhere like Kindersley all day so if you can get a job there you might be able to eat brand name KD. The interview rivals most international carriers for intensity and complexity complete with behaviour descriptive questions, IFR knowledge, and a sim ride at one of the local flight schools. The sim ride is structured so that the instructor candidate from that school who is also interviewing for the same job has a decided advantage over you.

Good luck and be safe eh.

I wouldn't call it painfully early... Painfully early is the pilots who Deliver the bags from Calgary that go onto the 414/401/402

Haha, I was waiting for that comment. Your right, the painfully early part is taking the bags the first leg from Calgary.

This is an IFR job and they are asking only 800h TT to fly single pilot multi engine IFR? or is this a VFR job?

CARS "723.86" read it up... The 1000 hour rule for SIFR, which i think is what your post is referring to, is only for carrying passengers.... Courrier/Cargo no flight time requirement.

Correct me if im wrong

I think your right. I still think its a little low to be in a fast and not the simplist plane in the poop. 800tt 200pic and only 50 multi.... The 1000hr rule should be for all SPIFR with a min ammout of IFR time and more then 200pic for sure. But it's not up to me.

And it seems like they can't fill the position, this is the third time in about the last 6 months that they've been posting for this position.

? 28000yr divided by 1960 hours normal yr =14.28 hr only problem is 12x 5 =60 hrs week x4.5weeks month=270hrs month x 12 months 3240 hours a yr ergo 28k/3240=8.64c an hour

so whats min wage in sask ? arent they in violation / kinda explains why they keep advertisn eh

at min basewage of 10 $/hr x60 =600 wkx 4.5weeks month2700x12=32400 should bing to mgt att dont ya think. if you are away from your normal place of residence performing your duty holding for 12hours is considered part of job them no reason what so ever to be paid less than min wage.
