So every six months the job is in jeopardy. The maintenance inspectors (TI's) have no such risk to job security. Therefore the disparity in wages.
It's a system induced anomaly and not something anyone wishes upon a fellow compadre.
I should be better but it isn't. These things can only be repaired at the upper management level.
In addition, CAI's conduct oversight on the ACP program, monitor and conduct check rides, certify Air Operators and Private operators and/or monitor Flight Training Units, manage and/or participate on SMS Assessments, PVI's, and PI's.
They also, manage a portfolio of company's as POI's and as an ACP can be assigned as a type specialist (SME) for "quality assurance" puposes.
So, in my humble opinion, the CAI job is not the same as a TI.
Damn, I just exposed myself.
You think all the other inspectors are not participating in assessments and all the other oversight?
Last time we had a PVI the AME guys worked pretty hard. The pilot inspectors drank a lot of coffee and talked a lot. Oh and they also went for some "monitoring" flights. The funny part was that one of our passengers wanted to ride shotgun and so the inspector did monitoring from the back seat of the 206. I am sure she could see alot from there
