Re: I guess flight attendents are rude.
I wish they could have broken it down to regionals too.
Skywest flies for all 4 majors, as does Chatauqua. I fly for 2.
So the if they are surveying mainline only, that works, but you have the exact same FA's when you flew out of Chicago in Monday, as you did out of Minneapolis on Friday on a different carrier.

Gotta love how the poll is "Which US Airline has the rudest flight attendants" and literally every comment in the comment section says:
AirCanada
AirCanada
AirCanada
AirCanada
AirCanada
... Way to represent Big Red

Re: I guess flight attendents are rude.
I seriously wonder if the people here complaining about Air Canada actually ever fly Air Canada anywhere .. or perhaps I'm just incredibly lucky but in my 100's of thousands of miles, and 100's of thousands of dollars spent I've NEVER seen an Air Canada staffer ever be rude to anybody even in the face of some very upset customers. I've seen angry buisnessmen screaming because the flight is delayed for mechanical or horrific weather reasons, families swearing at the poor girls because they can't all sit together, drunk buisnessmen etc. and not once have I seen the girls rise to the bait.

Agreed.
Re: I guess flight attendents are rude.
I also agree the Air Canada attendants are good, I fly the Atlantic 8 to 12 times a year and they treat me well.
Re: I guess flight attendents are rude.
I deadhead on AC several times per month. The inflight staff do a great job- I honestly can't ever recall seeing any rude or unprofessional behavior toward pax in my travels, both in J and Y.
AC sales agents on the other hand have a certain percentage that would be better suited to swinging bags than dealing with people.

Re: I guess flight attendents are rude.
I would be a rude FA to every idiot that gets on with everything they own and try to stuff it in the overhead or any other crevice they can find. No wonder some of these FA's get hot under the collar. But my question is, "why do these people get all they way to being on the plane with all this crap"? It is very specific as to how much, how heavy and how big you can take as carry-on and for the most part find all the crews to be more than friendly under most circumstances. In my mind, they could crank up the can't fix stupid volume.

While I don't fly AC very often anymore, that has also been my experience.cgzro wrote:I seriously wonder if the people here complaining about Air Canada actually ever fly Air Canada anywhere .. or perhaps I'm just incredibly lucky but in my 100's of thousands of miles, and 100's of thousands of dollars spent I've NEVER seen an Air Canada staffer ever be rude to anybody even in the face of some very upset customers. Re: I guess flight attendents are rude.
I flew American once and it was pretty good. The flight attendants were great.
Maybe you're right and it's just been luck.
I don't love Air Canada but in my opinion most people complaining that they're the worst need to try out some of the US carriers.
I kind of get what you're saying sheephunter. The nicoderm ad seemed to make me think, "I'd love to have her tuning in those morons on flights I've been on."
Maybe the crappy customers are the reason why so many staff are rude. If that is a valid excuse then I guess everything is fine. I know if we're going somewhere on the continent I'd rather drive than take most sky buses. It's the so called security that bothers me most but maybe you guys like that fine too.
Not for a few years. We use West Jet and then listen to the complaining from my in laws who always fly AC. Can't be that bad they keep using them.cgzro wrote:I seriously wonder if the people here complaining about Air Canada actually ever fly Air Canada anywhere ..

The worst....maybe second only to United.......
North American F/A's should have to enjoy a flight on Cathy, Singapore, JAL or Korean to see how it is 'supposed' to be done!!
just my 02 cents.....

I tend to agree. I think most of the folks on here have a bit more empathy because we have a bit more knowledge on what it really takes to keep the airline running smoothly...Beefitarian wrote:I flew American once and it was pretty good. A very good friend of mine is a flight attendant for Sunwing and I have a massive amount of respect for what she does and what she tells me she has to put up with.
I've haven't flown A/C in quite a few years, I just simply commented on the fact that most, if not all, of the comments in the comments section of the poll seem to slam A/C pretty hard.
Re: I guess flight attendents are rude.
While I might not say AC attendants are actively rude, I have experienced quite a few that are brusgue and certainly non-smiling. I don't expect a flight attendant to act like my best friend, but I have experienced a more friendly approach with WestJet and almost any of the foreign airlines I've flown with.
But mostly I'm just envious.

Indeed too much travel. super Elite 3 years running,
While nobody is perfect AC does not deserve most of the bitching on here.
I think most people simply have not traveled enough to judge properly.

Re: I guess flight attendents are rude.
I need to chime in.
My best friend is an AC flight attendant and she is one of the nicest people you could ever meet. Of course I am completely biased.
For those who think they are all old, fat, and cranky...her and her friends are anything but. They are all in their 30's, attractive, and they are just trying to make their next connection. Just like you.
In my flights on AC and WJ I must say the only time I have ever seen anyone be rude it was a passenger. I think the FA's show amazing patients.
Of course I am completely biased.

Re: I guess flight attendents are rude.
Vast, vast majority of FA's on AC ( and others ) are very professional. Some though, are less than friendly or warm, even to polite pax. Just a little warmth does make a 12 hour flight go nicer. I'm sure to be fair its a very tough job at times.
Re: I guess flight attendents are rude.
I fly Air Canada frequently between Edmonton and Vancouver, and Vancouver and Hong Kong. The flight attendants are without exception wonderful and accommodating. Absolutely no complaints.
Re: I guess flight attendents are rude.
Same here, 8 times a year either to of from Dubai. AC plus usually Lufthanasa, Swiss, or Emirates. I have had nothing but great service from all these carriers, including AC. I have found the FA's on Air China a bit distant, but I think it is more a language thing.
Re: I guess flight attendents are rude.
I think the people that are bashing Air Canada flight attendants don't really fly Air Canada and most likely never have had any situation where a flight attendant was rude to them. People love to spread gossip and pass on baseless judgments - not exactly sure why. I've flown on both AC and WestJet, both are fantastic. WestJet typically has the younger flight attendants and their FAs are VERY jolly and upbeat - that does not make AC attendants rude! Again, people love comparing things and aren't that great at being unbiased in their comparison. If you like the more upbeat and jolly atmosphere then you will like WestJet better. If you like a more professional and 'traditional' environment then you'll like AC better.

Ahh but which airline has the best looking FA's? If she's gonna be rude better at least be worth looking at
