Valk accident was due to the 104 getting into the unusually large vortices produced by the valk's wing, as someone has already stated.

Not the same situation at all. Get over it. You're not an 18 driver nor have you been trained for air intercepts and I doubt you've been trained for formations.

You missed obviously missed it...

but I was pointing out a POSSIBLE safety issue that could effect all of us... and the traveling public. Sure I don't drive -18s or fly formations regularly, but when I see an unnecissary risk, I'll point it out.

Condescending attitudes like yours only discourage people from speaking their mind... Condescending attitudes like yours get pilots killed.

I rest my case.

Now lets go drinking

IMHO, no it was not that close a formation, and yes, it was in the best interest of safety. It was a precaution that causerd little to no risk extra whatsoever.

formation stuff has a time and a place...It`s not the evil that people make it out to be.

Aaannnnyyhhoww...

Did any one watch the US coverage on this story? I could not believe my eyes and ears. The station that I saw it on basically outlined all the hijack procedures. Flashed the 7500 code right up on the screen, showed how it is entered and where, and what it`s used for. Yes, I understand that this info can be found when searched for, but you don`t need to make every slack jawed hilbilly and do-it-yourself hijacker that much more informed. Especially from a country that is so concerned about security. I think it was just a dumb thing to do and adds just that much more risk. I wish I remembered what station it was, because I would have liked to let them know what kind of favor they did for flight crews in north america. Why not just publish it on safety briefing cards. Is it time for a new procedure?

7500 would likely be buried deep in the FMS pages anyway. If a terrorist knew how to find it he'd likely know what it meant. I guess my point is it doesn't matter.
