I keep refusing the teal juice, only to realize its being injected into my veins while I sleep.
Yes it makes me feel violated but quite frankly its painless compared to the ducttape being torn off the ass at my ALPA job.

The money comment is a response to yet another comment that insinuates that WS pilots are underpaid.

WAWCON for Encore is a high priority for us. We are pushing for better.

i almost pooped my pants!......its not perfect by any means at wja but what airline job is...still a long way from a union though....i suspect that by the time davep caught wind of it others in senior management would be on it.......would it be any better?..maybe in some small ways but overall?....I keep bumping into guys flying for airlines and cargo all over the world...most of it kinda sucks...like I have said before if you live to work flying for an airline is perfect....wja seems to still be on the higher end of satisfaction.....I think that mostly has to do with flica and no seniority with schedules....I dont think anyone is going to f--k with that.....or else you have years on reserve in yyz....

I haven't posted in years, but this caught my attention. I've been at WJ for nearly 5 years and a union is definitely not coming. The flexibility we have is a direct result of a good working relationship with our pilot group and management. We have Flica, and the ability to live in most cities we choose. The ESP plan is absolutely second to none! Do you actually think we would jeopardize this????

My guess the poster of this union junk is not a real Westjetter. Probably some hack with an axe to grind. Anyway, we like it here and we will not jeopardize that.

Cheers

To: flyer 1492,

Your comments are inaccurate, and the tone of your response was very poor. WJ's last three CP's have been some of the best guys you could fly with or want to deal with in an office scenario. They have our backs, and never hesitate to reach out and help if/when needed. The crap they put up with is unbelievable! For sure, they know what is going on out there...good, and bad. I wish that you had a chance in this crazy aviation industry to meet and work with such. Your comments prove that you have not.

Critical engine,

Hey Fundi,

I have had the chance to work with those CP's I wouldn't call them the best to deal with or fly with. I never slammed them, I just pointed out that they would be the last to hear about any union rumblings.

Do you really think that the first management would hear about a union drive is when there is a CIRB vote? Management treats us with respect and in return they have our utmost confidence. If some clown showed up at the parking lot trying to get me to sign a representation card the first thing I would do (after telling the guy where to go) is tell my chief pilot. I don't want a union and neither do most of the guys I work with.

Maybe if we're lucky we can get a union and our jobs will be as good as the other unionized carriers in our country. :goodman:

It's true there are some at WJ that want a union but they are a very small minority.
No job is perfect but I must admit this job is pretty good. If there was a union drive down
The road I'd expect something resembling SWAPA (south west).
As long as we have an open dialogue and great working relations with our Managment team
There is no reason to unionize. If that relationship were to sour - that would be the tipping point.

Kag what I think you may have missed is a change in the wind. Its not the job itself thats the issue, or the relationship withmanagment. Most pilots recognize that there will always be a pile of shit to wade through or around. Rather the shift has been to an ambivilance (best case) or pure hatered (worst case) of the WJPA itself. All it will take is a minor goof up by someone in middle management and the WJPA will be gone. Given the current state of affairs on the second floor, my odds are 50:50 that the WJPA does not survive this round of negotiations.

WJPA aside I'm just speaking for a union in general.
Honestly I'm ignoring the politics. I'll decide where instand
When I see our agreement.
The last round got fixed, if this goes sideways so will this one.

This really intrigues me.

WestJet is arguably (from the outside at least) the best flying job in Canada right now. Good pay, good equipment, interesting route structure, good working conditions and most importantly, a good working relationship between the pilots and management. The pilots are represented by an association that achieved all that for them, why on earth would they even be thinking about an outside union?

The bigger question is; what do you think a union would do for you that your association can't?

What does this statement mean; "Given the current state of affairs on the second floor"?
