Sunwing's employees still not a priority

Post by Anonymous345 »

Well it turns out Sunwing's employees are still not a priority, despite all the union activity.
It's no secret that Sunwings pilots and flight attendants have been in talks with their unions trying to gain better working conditions to bring them up to the industry standard. Their flight attendants are some of the lowest paid in the country despite the excessive workload they carry with their many services on board. Their wage alone brought down the national average of flight attendant pay by a full $2.00/hr.
As if that's not enough of a drag, now they're putting their employees in hotels that are knowingly infested with bed bugs. I have worked for Sunwing for a few years and I myself have experienced these inconveniences and blatant disregard for their employees, as have my colleagues and friends that work for this airline.
For anyone looking for employment in this industry I am simply putting this out there for you to consider when applying for jobs.

I have one question. Who is the union? I heard it was CAW. Is this true?

Perhaps you don't know enough about the CAW.
They represent more than just auto workers, not
that it matters either way.
ALPA was approached and turned the pilots down.
Absolutely nothing wrong with going CAW, in fact,
probably a lot better off.

Sounds like you got shafted by one of your supervisors, hence the public rant. It also sounds like you should move on and make an extra $5 an hours at Transat or Rouge. Good Luck.

PS (Since when has any airline employee been a priority?? Sounds like your new to this Industry)

Maybe Anonymous345 is a disgruntled Flight Attendant...who knows. Accommodation issues happen on occasion... Company has alway responded appropriately in rectifying. This is my 6th Airline job (CAR 705 Ops).... It's not so bad here....but you are welcome to try on somewhere else and find out for yourself. Best of luck. :-)

Only speaking from experience... Try a few airlines and you find that there is always something to be unhappy about if you are so inclined. However the single poster is free to take their own journey and make their own discoveries for themselves.

Unlike most Airline Jobs..... Cults are easy to join and hard to leave.

Not all airlines fly to lavish cities providing cheap luxury hotels! Have you seen some of the shit holes in Quebec? I recently stayed at a Comfort Inn, probably the most lux hotel I the town, and found a skid mark, (shit stain, or in French, marque de merde) on the top bed cover!

I hope you wrote a report to the hotel, your company, and your union! This will be the only way this can be fixed!
