Where does this rank on the irresponsible/unsafe scale?
Really cool idea I think, really poor execution losing control like that with no fail-safe or backup plan. Would such a thing, if done away from population centre's represent any risk to air travel?
Would love to try it one day.

That was awesome! Irresponsible? Nah. It's because of people like this that we are not still a bunch of cavemen (and women) living in Africa. A little adventure never hurt anybody. What a great hobby!

Too bad there wasn't an altimeter included, that lens makes it difficult to guess how high it might have been.

Nevermind, I read his blog, it went 33,000 metres +/- 10%.
