Re: Captain Robert Piché joins the fight
As much as I would like to pretend that I can speak French, I'd really love an English translation.
Re: Captain Robert Piché joins the fight
An english version will be coming by tonight from what I am told.

Re: Captain Robert Piché joins the fight
Don't minimize what a grave mistake that was...they were very lucky with the outcome..for some reason, especially in QC this guy is some sort of a hero. Crazy

Re: Captain Robert Piché joins the fight
Let us be reminded that the swiss cheeze model STARTED in the Hangar where an AME installed a wrong PN fuel pump ( not a hard thing to do , just look at some AD s in the old days) The pilots were PART of a chain that did NOT start with them BUT could have finished with them, but it didnt, they ADDED another layer onto the cheese, however, the ending was very favourable HENSE my positive reply

Learcapt, lets hypothesize,,What IF the Airbus A-380 with the uncontained engine failure, FAILED in flight during the LENGTHLY and EXTENSIVE period of resolving issues before the landing ? Would they be considered failures for taking tooo long to land? They are considered heroes now for landing safely
Primarily as an AME , im well aware of many pilots fascination with troubleshooting without a full deck of cards, so to speak.

Listening to this FRENCH ONLY one might think it's coming from a Foreign Pilot. English is the aviation language of the world so if you want the support of CANADIANS you might want to start with a video in both languages.

Unbelievable.....24Left wrote:Listening to this FRENCH ONLY one might think it's coming from a Foreign Pilot. English is the aviation language of the world so if you want the support of CANADIANS you might want to start with a video in both languages.
How about learning to read it first:
An English version will be posted soon.
Re: Captain Robert Piché joins the fight
How about you learning to understand the point I made? This orginal version should be in the international language of Aviation. Piche can speak English. This French only sends the message loud and clear. Placate the French only and screw the rest of the rest of us.TG wrote:Unbelievable.....24Left wrote:Listening to this FRENCH ONLY one might think it's coming from a Foreign Pilot. Canada is a Bilingual country and as said, an English version will follow.24Left wrote: How about you learning to understand the point I made? At list Mr Pichet is doing something about foreign workers and so do Gilles.
How about doing your own You Tube video if you think the English version is not coming fast enough.
Re: Captain Robert Piché joins the fight
A combined English French video would be appreciated to reach the entire Canadian audience.
Just a suggestion.

Re: Captain Robert Piché joins the fight
Gilles and Robert thanks you for all the time and work you have put into this issue. As a former employee of one of the major users of this program I would love to see it stop. Continue the good work.
Re: Captain Robert Piché joins the fight
Excuse my ignorance, as I am an outsider in this situation, but why does it matter that Sunwing made a profit in the last year? Whether they are in the red or in the black should not dictate whether they should be able to hire foreign workers to operate these aircraft, when there are plenty of qualified Canadian workers available to do that given job. Image if all other industries were given that opportunity?

Re: Captain Robert Piché joins the fight
It does not matter, it should not matter, you are correct. The reason it is being underlined here is the following:RealHigh wrote:Excuse my ignorance, as I am an outsider in this situation, but why does it matter that Sunwing made a profit in the last year? Whether they are in the red or in the black should not dictate whether they should be able to hire foreign workers to operate these aircraft, when there are plenty of qualified Canadian workers available to do that given job. The TFWP is meant to be available to companies who can demonstrate that there is a shortage of labour and that they have made a real effort to recruit or train Canadian labour.
Sunwing's argument to HRSDC and which HRSDC bought hook, sink and tackle, is that it would be unreasonable for them to be expected to have to hire and train the 119 foreign pilots that were brought in under this program, not because they could not be hired and trained, but because it would not be cost effective for them to have to hire and train 119 pilots at a cost of $40,000 each because these pilots were not needed year-round but only seasonally and would likely leave and not be available to them the following season. The relief was nevertheless provided by HRSDC which provided Sunwing to gain a commercial advantage over the completion on the backs of Canadian pilots and at the expense of the Canadian tax payer. The LMOs were in fact a form of government subsidy offered to Sunwing.
To reply to that argument and for that reason alone I explained that even even if they had been forced to hire and train those 119 Canadian pilots each year instead of being allowed to hire foreigners, they still would have made a very significant profit, which negates their argument that they should be given relief from the hiring and training requirement for such a reason.
