Will a modern dirt bike (yz250) fit in a 185?
I need to go pick up a dirtbike and was wondering if it would fit in the back of a 185? I have removed the back seat and I could take the wheels, forks and subframe off of the bike to make it fit better. Has anyone tried this before?

I would think with the copilot's seat out, with all the disassembly you have mentioned and removal of the fuel tank, if required, it should be no problem. I have never done it before though.

I don't think you'll have much problem. I used to haul my KLX250 in my C-170. The co-pilot seat and the back seat had to come out. I took the front fork off the bike and then had to wrap a tie down strap around the back to compress the suspension so it would fit.

I seem to recall flying one in a 172 years ago. I can't remember the size but it was quite large, at least a 250 2-stroke. I think I had all the seats out to get it in, and at least one wheel off. I'd say your chances are good, the only question is how much has to come off the bike to get it in.

Is the 185 on floats? Tie the bike to the outside. Easy. No disassembly required.
