Commuting at Encore
Do you think you will be able to commute for the left seat encore gig? Will there be multi day pairings? A lot of single day stuff? Will there be reserve?
Re: Commuting at Encore
Commute on a 20 day a month schedule while also being expected to be available on your days off for coverage... doesn't sound like too much fun...
Re: Commuting at Encore
Dont forget the fact that you won't be able to afford the commute either.....
Re: Commuting at Encore
Can you explain?ahramin wrote:Keep in mind that you can't skip deadheads.
Re: Commuting at Encore
Yeah cause everyone will be working 20 days and 70 hrs a month.altiplano wrote:Commute on a 20 day a month schedule while also being expected to be available on your days off for coverage... doesn't sound like too much fun...
Re: Commuting at Encore
Inverted, from what I have seen of the working conditions at Again you must be physically present wherever your pairing starts whether or not it starts with a deadhead. In other words if you live in ABC and bid pairings that start with a deadhead from YYC to ABC, it doesn't help as you still have to commute to YYC to deadhead back home.
Re: Commuting at Encore
Since they only started sked flts this past week, maybe any of the WJE drivers can post what their blocks look like going forward
Re: Commuting at Encore
I would hope they are always going forward.dhc# wrote:Since they only started sked flts this past week, maybe any of the WJE drivers can post what their blocks look like going forward
Re: Commuting at Encore
Thanks ahramin, I found the "terms and conditions"
. Doesn't look like commuting will work at Encore and I sure can't afford to relocate. Seem like they made everything the opposite of WJ mainline.
Re: Commuting at Encore
how nice.....just wondering how its is the opposite? why cant guys commute?
Re: Commuting at Encore
You want a sample of pairings with just 2 aircraft? Things will only get more efficient as more aircraft are brought online, I would expect?
Re: Commuting at Encore
The "no skipping deadheads" is completely wrong (at mainline, anyway). It may be worded that way somewhere, but we do it all the time. We even have an online form that we submit to crew sched when we want to change or cancel our deadheads. We can bid to start/finish with a DH for the very purpose of changing or canceling it. Works out well!

The discussion is about Westjet Again, not Westjet.
Re: Commuting at Encore
A bit off topic, am wondering in terms of perdiems, what do mainline pilots average a month and would Encore be similar (once the operation matures).
Re: Commuting at Encore
Also off topic, but would anyone be willing to share or take a guess at upcoming WJE course dates for the balance of the year?
Re: Commuting at Encore
I averaged $703.50 in per diems per month from January to June. I imagine WJE will be the same. I do mostly 4 day pairings. Shorted pairings have less per diems.dhc# wrote:A bit off topic, am wondering in terms of perdiems, what do mainline pilots average a month and would Encore be similar (once the operation matures).

I Got an offer as Direct Entry Captain.
One of my first questions, "what is schedule? Blocks? Pairings? Overnights etc".
Basicly, is it commutable?
The answer: "No blocks, a day here and a day there, only one overnight route so far".

Pilots at Jazz would be averaging around $1200.00 for the same 4 day pairings.

Until they have enough captains and f/o's trained, the most you will see is 75 hours per month.
