Glider Crash, Langley BC Sep 8th
Looking at the REG and the aspect ratio of the wing it looks like an Air Cadet Glider.
hopefully everyone is OK.
----
LANGLEY (NEWS1130) – A small plane has crashed in Langley.
It is sitting on top of the roof of a store at 56th and 208th.
Bill is in the area and says the plane looks crumpled. “The wing that is sticking up, half of it is broken, you can see it has been broken. All I can see is the one wing as the cabin goes near the wing, it’s buried in the building or on the side of it on the backside.”
He says fire crews are on top of the roof trying to get the pilot out.
No word on any injuries or how many people were in the plane at the time.
hopefully everyone is OK.

I read elsewhere that there was only a pilot on board who was taken away by ambulance as a precaution and yes, it's a 2-33.
Like so many other simple training planes, I'm sure it's only a matter of time before CLB is back in the air.

Heard through the grape vine the cadet is fine. Glider 8 doesn't look too bad! I miss those 2-33's!

Jeez, if he wanted to go to the convenience
store that badly, he should have just landed

I did a lot of gliding and some towing in YNJ. Never loved it. Too tight, not may options for rope breaks and engine failures. Especially off of 25.
Re: Glider Crash, Langley BC Sep 8th
They seem to close down runway 25 by notam when operating there. Curious if that is the case every time they operate out of YNJ.

Not a safe landing area. I prefer this one.Colonel Sanders wrote:Jeez, if he wanted to go to the convenience

Funny.....it looks pretty similar to the typical skydive plane I used to fly.

It is. Gliders are left flying a downwind across the approach to 19, or the departure of 01.pelmet wrote:They seem to close down runway 25 by notam when operating there. Curious if that is the case every time they operate out of YNJ.
