Does Aviation Diploma matters? Does it impress employers?

I am doing my PPL at Spring bank airport, I will go for CPL after. skywings offers diploma after CPL. Do you think it's worth it go far just to get diploma to impress employers?

Let me see if I understand you correctly. Your motivation for going to a college is not to learn more about your chosen career, but to impress your future potential employers?

I dont really think that is the objective of most colleges.

First off you need to ask yourself if you are doing something because you want to impress someone, or because you want to better yourself in your field and know more about your trade.

My personal experience, particularly while piloting aircraft, has been that attempts to impress have resulted in less than impressive performance, and outcome. On the other hand, being devoted, diligent, and having attention to detail, while just going about my normal business, has seemed to impress some employers when I least expected it. Not unlike dating, I observe in hindsight...

In particular, remind yourself that a first impression is a lasting impression, and... some of us really notice poor written presentation (things like poor grammar in titles, for example).

Learn well, build your skills, and just go about your life, if you are destined to impress, it will happen all on its own!

Perhaps what someguy123 was asking was whether or not having a diploma would help his chances of gaining employment. I think it might have been understood as "getting a diploma to show off."

I don't have an aviation diploma. When it was time to consider aviation college for me, I thought about it for maybe 5 minutes before deciding not to. It was the right decision at the time because I needed to get my first flying job as quickly as possible. Going to college would have delayed me by probably 2 years.

In retrospect I'm certain that I would be further ahead today had I gone to an aviation college.

Someguy123 depending on your goal in the long term, it might be worth it. The Air Canada application has a little box to tick if you went to aviation college.

Having said that, I have no idea how Red Deer is regarded.

I went to Selkirk College.

I can tell you I learned a lot there, the instructors are top notch (actual experience), the airplanes are well maintained, the flying is stunning and challenging at that stage of your career. If the airlines are your thing,a good college can help prep you. The INRAT, IATRA, and COM, were a breeze after two years of relatively intense round school. Did it help with MY career? No. I only say this because IFR and jets and airlines just are not my thing. I would much rather fly around in a beaver or caravan then spend my time at FL340. In summary, it depends on what you are looking for, and only you can make that decision. I do suggest getting a float rating before you enroll to see how much fun flying can really be!
