Well, what a difference a month can make. The latest info from the Flight Ops' Memo Writer Extraordinaire stated that hiring is now complete until the fall. It's a little far fetched to blame the hiring slow down solely on a lack of retirements right after describing how the airline is busy shipping E175's to Sky Regional...

Yes, that's how it looks like things will work until the 787's start arriving. I don't doubt that AC crew manning would prefer not to re-train pilots already qualified on different types and had everyone moving 'up' into higher rated positions but it sounds like the next bid will see some current YYZ EMJ FO's moved to rouge or other vacant positions.

Waiting 6 months in pool would be optimistic. There are people in pool that interviewed in Oct. last year, and will likely have to wait till oct nov before the next groundschool even.

You might be waiting even longer. No new PIT courses over the summer. Next one October/November.

Not sure but I interviewed in November last year and I've been told that I have about 20 people ahead of me in the pool.

Hope that helps

Hey All,

Anyone in the pooool put in a call to the recruiting team lately?

Anything interesting come from it?

I am thinking of taking an opportunity that has come up and was going to call them next week once I have more firm details.

I didn't call but sent an email to Lindsay in August. She was hoping to get more news about hiring by mid-September which is pretty much now. She'll send an email to all the pool candidates as soon as she knows more.

That's all I can say.

With the 100 applicants swimming in the pool, AC might not resume interviewing before what, 2015? Last bid only showed 16 vacancies..

Do they take from the pool when there are Vacancies like that? (16) As you said. Or do they do a little shuffling to make it work?

Thanks

Apparently there is a PIT course for 10 new hires starting Nov 11th, and probably another in early Jan with 8-10 new hires.

For the time being, 60-ish new spots on the 787 + nil retirements - 150 lost positions on the EMJ 175 = possible downbid in October. Should know better in a week.

Shouldn't hiring department know this before they announce to start hiring again? How could they announce a gs only to possibly cx it 2 weeks later. Shouldn't they have info of soon to be released bid?

I don't think a rumour on AvCanada qualifies as an announcement.
