Has anyone ever successfully got offered training "quickly"?
Most of the posts I read are indicating it could take up to 2+ years from application time to successful entry into the training program...I'm just wondering if anyone can share that they were offered training much quicker? Like 6 months to 12 months? I realize even the NavCan site says it may be a lengthy process but I'm just hoping that isn't ALWAYS the case.
Re: Has anyone ever successfully got offered training "quick
My experience was:
Online application -> In person assessment: 10 Months
In person Assessment -> Telephone Interview: 2 Weeks
Telephone Interview -> In person Interview: 2 weeks
In person interview -> Course Offer: 3.5 Months
Course offer -> Beginning of Training: 3 Months
Total Time from Application to Course Start: 17.5 Months
I know that others have had similar time lines some longer and a few shorter. The long waits can come at any point in the process. My big wait was before the In person assessment but others get invited to an assessment quickly due to good timing and then wait 6-12 months for an interview or 6-12 months from the interviews until maybe being offered a course if they are lucky. It all depends on Nav Canada's operational requirements in the region in which you are applying.
Best of luck, hope this helps!

Yes it helps thanks...so far I applied online and went through the online testing and got an invite to an assessment in less than 6 weeks. Fingers crossed for less than a year if I can make it through all phases of testing and interviews...
Re: Has anyone ever successfully got offered training "quick
My process from online assessment to starting the course was about 6-7 months.

It's in large part luck of the draw - you can't do the next step when they aren't running it.
It took me 2 and a half years from application to course start. The others I trained with were similar (~2 years). However I've certainly heard of it happening quicker. Hopefully the timing works out for you.

My experience.
Passed the online test early october.
Passed the in-person test mid november
Interview 1 was late december
Interview 2 was late march
Job offer was mid april
Start of the formation was early July
So 9-10 months for the whole process. It can go relatively fast if everything is aligned...

It varies considerably based on when you apply. Sometimes you get lucky and apply right before an assessment and a scheduled course. Sometimes you apply right after a test and they don't have any courses planned.
Tough to say where you'll fall.
On my course, the time from first application to first day of training varied from about 8 to 18 months. For me personally, it was about 15 months.

I applied June 2012 and am on course as of September 2013 in YEG. I was also standby for the march 2013 course. Any update on your progress?

I applied online in July 2013 and just finished my assessment about 10 days ago. Just waiting to see if I passed that as of yet...fingers crossed. I'm really trying to be positive and keep my fingers crossed I green light on everything and then get a course in the spring. Right now I am in the YEG region (which sure seems like one of the easier places to get into for some reason)

The assessment session was the green light that took the longest for me. Be patient... Or try at least, I remember waiting for mine. The trainers here in YEG are great, they aren't kidding when they talk about the amount of work though. Be prepared to ignore everything and everyone else in your life for the duration. If you get your in person interview while we are still here come say hi.

MikeAndHike - How is the training? When are you expected to be finished the initial training portion? Did you tour the ACC when you went for your in-person interview? Sorry for the 20 questions here! I'm in the same boat as nfpeanut; I did my testing in YEG earlier in October and am now just going through the processes, so just trying to get a feel of what will hopefully be ahead!
