Sunwing 423

Post by lionheart27 »

Was surprised that no one posted this. Is there still some animosity towards Sunwing hiring expats? Never mind

I can give you a report on this as I as actually on it :)

There is a flightaware link time/alt/speed chart WG423 Tuesday October 22nd POP direct YYZ

We took off at approx. 1935 local and somewhere between V1 and V2 there was a bird strike on the number 2
Ingestion caused the bang and vibration felt by all. The pilots were committed to the take off roll, climbed to 12000 and proceed to fly a shoreline parallel track and phone their ops. After about 10 min a decision was made to go back to POP, then 5min later reversed to fly direct PUJ(Punta Cana). I thought cool, I'm going to see the other side of the island.

Calm cool and collect was a professional job by the flight crew as everything went perfect and landed safely in PUJ with the fire crew escort and all. It was a bit overkill but the facilities at PUJ are probably 10 fold then POP.

Cool....got to spend another day on the island and they brought in another bird. I always like to see the positives on these events and tell other pax the same. We walked away, we get fed get a room and enjoy another day in paradise(bed bugs excluded). They(pax) are mostly 9-5ers so there is always some whining, one even argued with a rep and got the boot as I thought he would. :smt014 Well done Sunwing, you were efficient, prompt and we were in our new resort in <3hrs. :prayer:

Here's the curve ball. On the initial flight inbound from yyz rain and TS+ the flight stops at POP then continues to PUJ. On T/O from POP to PUJ they have a problem with the Capt.'s wiper. Day fix and 6hr hold in POP. Could they have handled it better? Why push the limits. No MEL for wiper in TS+ and RA :).

Oh yeah does anyone know if Montezuma's revenge takes about a week to recover?

There's bedbugs there, eh? I'm freaked out by those things. Be very careful to nuke your luggage and clothing before unpacking in your house, or you'll have little bitey friends there too. I still have a can of DDT powder we used to use on the horses, if you can't get rid of them PM me.

Nice to hear a positive take on any situation. Sounds like the crew did exactly the right thing. I have no problem with the wiper blade fix either. I've taken 4 vacation flights with Sun Wing, and it's always been a really positive experience.

My father-in-law likes Imodium. I just eat good sized portion of some cheddar. I hear bananas, rice, apples and toast (brat) is good too.
