YWG Sept 11
Hey everyone - just got invited to an assessment session in Winnipeg for next Wednesday. Very exciting but also horrible timing because I just left Winnipeg and will now need to fly back immediately. Oh well, I'm looking at the flight costs and session fees as a necessary investment.
Who else got an invite?

I know how you feel, left Manitoba Aug 2012 to YHZ got called back for a fall session, flew out then back, then did the same for the inperson interview at the ACC, and again for the course in Feb. Its worth the effort, enjoy!
Re: YWG Sept 11
I'll be going to this one!
If anyone is from the Regina area, I'll be leaving Regina after work at ~6pm and drive up to Winnipeg. If anyone would like a ride, let me know!

I found out today that I passed the assessment test! Great feeling, now to prep for the interview. Best of luck to you, Landynu. I hope you passed, too.

Congrats treehugger! One thing I remember from my interviews was that they expect you to know quite a bit about the company. They also ask a lot of questions about scenarios ( have you ever overcome ... Etc) and want you to provide examples from your past work experience.
Re: YWG Sept 11
I had to create an account just to post this - green light after the assessment test!
Thanks to all for this forum, it was a great source of information for the test (I did a lot of lurking). Not a whole lot of info to give - which I completely understand now, but every post was much appreciated.
Anxiously awaiting the interview round.

MikeAndHike, thanks for the interview tips. I'm definitely going to prep over the weekend.
Fstjhhny - Yes, I scheduled my interview as well! I'm lucky that the process is moving so quickly for me. I took the online test on July 24, so it took less than two months for me to schedule the first interview.

Re: YWG Sept 11
Figured I may as well post an update - scheduled my in person interview!
Re: YWG Sept 11
Good luck Treehugger. I had my interview and am green lit through. On the roster pool now. They are running another assessment in January though, not sure if that means the spring course will be postponed or not.
I don't suppose I almost spilled a glass of water on you at the assessment on the 11th did I?

Re: YWG Sept 11
Congrats on getting the green light! My interview isn't until January third so I'm still waiting. That's interesting about the new assessment session. I hope it doesn't affect our training schedule because May is ideal for me.
I think someone may have spilled water on me at the assessment, although I'm not sure. I would be pretty easy to remember. I was definitely the only 20 year old female.

Re: YWG Sept 11
I was just offered a standby seat, Apr 22nd course, for YEG.
Re: YWG Sept 11
So if one is placed on standby for a course, does that mean the available seats for Apr. 22 have been filled and in the event one of those students backs out or cannot attend for some reason then you may be substituted in? And where would that leave you if you are not able to get a seat in April, does that mean you will be put you straight into the next available course? I'm scheduled for an in person interview for YEG on Feb. 26, so I'm just trying to soak up as much information about the process as I can.
Re: YWG Sept 11
Right on evilgravy. Hope you get the seat locked in. I'm hoping some calls go out around YWG soon....evilgravy wrote:I was just offered a standby seat, Apr 22nd course, for YEG.
I wish I could answer that question with certainty but I really don't know.nfpeanut wrote:So if one is placed on standby for a course, does that mean the available seats for Apr. 22 have been filled and in the event one of those students backs out or cannot attend for some reason then you may be substituted in? Re: YWG Sept 11
The first question you asked is a yes. Basically if someone doesn't pass either medical or security, or backs out, then I am up for the spot. If none of that happens, well, then I'm not sure, as I'm nearing the end of my 18 months from my 2nd interview.nfpeanut wrote:So if one is placed on standby for a course, does that mean the available seats for Apr. 22 have been filled and in the event one of those students backs out or cannot attend for some reason then you may be substituted in? Good luck on your interview!
Re: YWG Sept 11
Thanks! Does your 18 months start over after passing a second interview then? I was under the impression that after I passed my phone interview I had 18 months, and that was it, even if I did get an in person interview and passed. Of course I didn't call the recruitment center to ask that specifically. That's good news if it does start again then.
Re: YWG Sept 11
I thiiiiiiiiink the 18 months starts after every stage you pass... don't quote me on that!
Re: YWG Sept 11
evilgravy - was the standby seat in April for IFR or VFR?
