Just wanted to see if anyone had any insight in doing a VFR trip from YYC to Vegas in mid march?
I know how unpredictable the wx can be that time of year in Southern Alberta, but my South Side flying has been limited to a Oshkosh trip a couple of summers ago. Just wondering if anyone has any advice on a routing, best places to stop for fuel, expected WX conditions, etc. Its not going to be the primary plan for going but if its doable its certainly been a bucket list item for me.
Any advice would be appreciated

I have overnighted in Jackpot Nevada...on the Nevada/Idaho border south of Twin Falls. You can walk across the street to the casino. Gas was pretty cheap. If you needed to plug in park on the west side of the ramp close to a ramp office and run an extension cord. From there south to Vegas is nice and quiet.

I have flown YXD to HND in the Vegas area. Chosen route was CYXD-KGTF-KPIH-KMLF-KHND. Ran into some weather near the Salt Lake City area and ended up diverting to KOGD. Overall a good route though.
We chose to fly through the Salt Lake City Class B, however you could easily avoid that by flying in the valley just East of the terminal area. The only reason I wouldn't recommend that is the loss of reception behind the rocks.
Route back KHND-KMLF-KPIH-KGTF-CYQL-CYXD without a hitch.
