A question for those who have much more experience with the finer details of the CARs than I do ...
I have a student who owns their own aircraft, but would like to move it down south for the remainder of the winter. It is Canadian registered, and the student is training toward a PPL.
Am I legally allowed to conduct dual training while in the US and have the hours count in the students logbook/PTR for the PPL license?
Thanks.

I would say the tax implications might be too complex to really know.
If INS catches wind the IRS might have a talk with you. If you quietly did it and money only changed hands in Canada, ensuring you paid tax on it there and possibly filed a zero income return in the US if they ask. It should be ok. You should probably talk to a qualified American tax attorney and pay to get something in writing.
I know you did not ask that, but I think you better consider the fact that unlike CRA the IRS is not prone to play nice.

I've done this. I do not know of any CAR or FARI have a student who owns their own aircraft, but would like to move it down south for the remainder of the winter. It is Canadian registered, and the student is training toward a PPL.

which prohibits it. Anyone?
PS Student obviously can't go solo in the USA - we're
only talking dual flight instruction.
