Wasaya layoffs?

Post by Eleveniron »

Any truth to the rumour that there was another round of layoffs today? Any one particular department affected?

I heard a rumor lately that Wasaya is heading into financial troubles again. Possible the Dash 8 was the nail in the coffin... not sure. I think in the next few months when the winter roads open up it will be the real test. They may not be far behind Air Bravo...

Take this info as rumor only but it is a credible rumor. :?

Wow - thanks for that! That MPP Frank Klees sure came in for the kill on that one - well presented. The Minister came back with a lot of nothing in response - so much for accountability and transparency.

As a point of interest, there is a full menu of documentary/comment here: http://www.frank-klees.on.ca/current-is ... ambulance/

Cheers,
Kirsten B.

I've heard similar. Combination of many failures from management over the years (bogus credit card spending, high wages for 'certain special' employees, free flights for certain 'buddies, sending entire fleets out to miss and come home on bad wx days), combined with some bad luck (wiped out hawker engines due nose collapse, burnt down & runaway hawkers, baggage carts and prop, trying to cash in enough equity to buy atr's) is all adding up. Tough times always come with the winter roads there, this year will be harder than usual. Place was never a career company, which is unfortunate; it had the potential.

Two words comes to mind.........

Run.....Away..

Would be very afraid if I was someone there holding any sort of bond.

Ah yes, bonds. Where do you think they get their operating capital? Good timing, Ken!

I am surprised no one has mentioned it yet so let me point out something interesting...

Has anyone else noticed Kelner flying more then usual? By this I mean there can not posibly be Client Evaluation flights from sunrise to sunset almost every day... So let me ask... How is a dealer able to sell a fleet of aircraft to operators and then setup an operation in direct competition with it's customers?

Makes you wonder what the manufacturer might think of this business practice?

So where does this play into the Wasaya and Bravo financial dilemma???

When you say Kelner do you mean his cargo North Baslers or his PC-12 operation?

I believe Kelner has one PC12 in YQT that's available for charter. Not sure if it's theirs or managed for a client. Wasaya has bigger problems than one PC12 doing some charters out of YQT. Wait till that good 'ol polar vortex affect on the winter road ice conditions takes hold. :(
