Re: Air Canada Pool
Thanks for the heads up. Been waiting for the application to reopen after interviewing over two years ago. Hoping to get another shot, who knows with this selection process though.

Re: Air Canada Pool
Hiring due to retirement has been quite delayed due to the "age 60" rule changing. There are only 3 retirement planned in the next year (the guys have to give 12 months notice). I would say in 2 or 3 years it'll be over 100 retirements every year easily.
The last bid nothing really changed (bid every 2 months), but beginning of April bid should project some expansion.

Re: Air Canada Pool
Hey Everyone, I'm new to this forum and am looking to apply to Air Canada. I'll have my ATPL license finalized in a week and a half, however I'm concerned the current job posting could close at any time. If I submit my application now and update it when I finalize my ATPL, will it get credited to my "points"? Or should I just wait and hope the job posting stays open?
Re: Air Canada Pool
Ummm where did you get those numbers from?BlueSkies12 wrote:There are only 3 retirement planned in the next year
Re: Air Canada Pool
I think you should wait, I don't see the job window closing in the next two weeks. When I applied to AC years ago without my ATPL, I got a "Sorry you can't be considered for employment with AC at this time....." BUT THEN AGAIN, someone will probably say that having an application in their for years even if your under qualified is worth something too. No right answer I guess but if it were me, I would wait. Don't forget that TC still has to mail you your licence, so it may be more like 3-4 weeks before you recieve it, BUT you can probably get a temp copy if you get an interview.Smear101 wrote:Hey Everyone, I'm new to this forum and am looking to apply to Air Canada. There are more than 3 retirements this year. There were 3 retirements posted on the last bid, which covers a 2 month period about 9 months in the future.delta1 wrote:Ummm where did you get those numbers from?BlueSkies12 wrote:There are only 3 retirement planned in the next year

Re: Air Canada Pool
In the CMSC 14-01A under "moving to inactive status" there are 3 names with retirement dates that span the next year.
These are the projected retirements.

Re: Air Canada Pool
Retirements are posted for the period for which the bid projects the flying requirements (2 months).BlueSkies12 wrote:In the CMSC 14-01A under "moving to inactive status" there are 3 names with retirement dates that span the next year.

You are correct 14-01A displays 3 retirements, but that is not the total for the year. Take a look at the 'Line Status' reports from last years bids if you don't believe me. 37 Pilots were posted as retiring from 13-01 to 13-06, but anywhere from one to twelve are posted as retiring on the individual reports. 14-2 will display the names of the pilots who have given their notice to retire in September and October 2014.
Re: Air Canada Pool
Anyone heard what positions were awarded on the Feb groundschool?

Re: Air Canada Pool
Pool has still not been told of any more PIT courses following the one that started earlier this month, and it's getting to the point where if they don't announce one soon for April it's a safe bet one won't be happening until at least May.CSk3RampBOY wrote:Any word on the April GS?
There are still people who interviewed in May 2013 that don't have a medical done yet, so it doesn't look as though they are going to start hiring at a breakneck speed. But who knows.

Re: Air Canada Pool
Looks like I should have waited a few days before posting. An email went out to the pilot pool today saying there will be no PIT course in April, and they do not know when the next PIT course will be.
I suspect the online application is just open so they can refresh the pool with candidates since a good number have been hired the past few months, not because they are anticipating a lot of hiring to come.

Long time creeper: first time poster!
1) Anyone know what the pool is sitting at after the Mar PIT?
2) Any interview gouge? Apparently there is a thread here somewhere with a couple of "practice questions."
3) What are the planned courses from here on in?
Long live ROUGE!

Re: Air Canada Pool
March 2014 PIT had 18 new hires all going to Rouge, 11 767 F/O 7 Airbus F/O. April PIT has definitely been cancelled. Latest info is that there will not be another till Sept but subject to change. Beyond Sept looks like steady hiring each month thru fall and winter. Pool now stands at about 40 with interviewing starting in April. Good luck to all.

60+.... Nice first post! Those waiting enjoy when someone posts factual info that helps with planning for the future. A few facts are what applicants need. The silence is what hurts! .........Thanks!

Re: Air Canada Pool
Another pool update was sent out.
There will be no more hiring until the Fall.

Re: Air Canada Pool
If those people haven't been contacted for a medical - most probably they are not proceeding any further through the recruitment session. If you get a call for an interview, you should expect that if you are successful you will continue to be in contact with the company all the way to a job offer.Slappy the Squirrel wrote:There are still people who interviewed in May 2013 that don't have a medical done yet, so it doesn't look as though they are going to start hiring at a breakneck speed. Re: Air Canada Pool
Oh they're still in contact with the company, just things are moving so slowly that they haven't made it to the medical stage yet. Medicals aren't done until you get closer to the top of the list these days.
